I feel ashamed I don't know for sure the answer to this question as I've been playing AH for years. Anyway here is it: The Ancient Ones that say "if an environment type X is drawn discard it without its special effect taking place". I always played it that you resolve the mythos normally but then discard it instead of placing it in play. Was I supposed to discard it entirely without following anything on the card and draw a new mythos in its place or did I play right?
A noobish question
I'm pretty sure you do everything on the card you draw except for leaving it in play (to replace the environment). I'm not 100% sure though. I think you're playing it right. Anyone else have a rules citation saying otherwise?
Well if YOU'RE not 100% sure then I guess it wasn't that noobish ![]()
I'm pretty sure we're right though but I, too, would like more opinions.
One other small question in the meantime: After resolving a Plot card, to you shuffle it with the other Plot cards or return it to the box. (clarification: I'm talking about plot cards, not epic battle cards)

I'm not sure if it's been specified. I think it's returned to the box (since there's three sinister plot cards and there's three cards that require the drawing of sinister plots).
Dam(n) Avi, you come off very n00bish not answering easy questions. Of course, us long-time forumites know it's because you've frakked your mind on too much AH
.
"Q: Ithaqua’s “Icy Winds” power says “All Weather cards
are discarded without their special effects taking place.”
What happens in a game with Ithaqua if a non-Weather
Environment is already in play, and a Mythos card with a
Weather Environment effect is drawn?
A: Do not replace or discard the existing non-Weather
Environment card. Do the basic upkeep portions of the new Weather Mythos card (gate, clues, monsters move),
but ignore its special ability and then discard it." (FAQ, p. 5)
This works for Ith, Atlach-Nacha (Mystic) and Tsathoggua (Urban). Cthugha is different, with it if you draw a Weather Environment, it gets discarded immediately without doing any of the four steps and a replacement Mythos is drawn.

Hey ;') I still remembered the correct way of playing it even though I didn't remember where the ruling was (nor was I certain that there was a ruling). That's what you're here for Dam ;') finding the page number when I'm too lazy (I'd like to say busy, but let's be honest) to do so. I should probably just download a pdf manual so I can find/search these answers instead of having to deal with your snark ;') but then where would our fellow forumites be, without watching us spit, snarl, and screech at eachother? Bored, that's where!
Alright, then this leads me to another question about when environments are replaced. I understand the order of resolving a mythos card is- gate, monster movement, effect, clue or 'event' token. So when you draw a mythos card and it is a new environment replacing an old environment does the new environment immediately kick the old one out, meaning that the old one has no effect on monster movement, or do you go through the order and only replace it after you have spawned the gate and moved the monsters?
An example is the environment where flying monsters can't move is in play and you draw a new environment and this one has the flying monsters move during movement. Do the monsters move or not?
The "new" environment takes effect during the step of the mythos phase where you resolve the mythos phase text. In your example, the flying monsters do not move, because monster movement takes place before the mythos text causes the old encounter to be replaced with the new one.
