Double E-Wings Possibilities

By Cav Scout, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I want to fly a Rebel list at a local tournament to include two E-Wings to slash and scoot. Which list would have the most punch to help the E-Wings with their role?

I was fiddling with e wings as well. I was thinking 3 rogue squadron escorts. All 3 with r3 astromech, fire control system, and juke. Which I think is pretty well rounded. But I was also thinking about doing just two of them, with 2 or 3 bandit squadron z95s. Hard decision.

I've been flying Wedge (Swarm tactics, S-Foils) and 2 Rogue E-Wings with R3 and Proton Torpedoes. One of them also has Swarm tactics. They all shoot at I6, so your alpha strike is pretty strong.

I'm always tempted by R2 Astromechs on E-Wings. They love to zoom out of a fight, and that'll be time to regen shields. I know the R4 opens up those sweet 1-hard moves, and having the 2-speeds after a red move or linked Lock is good, but 2 shields on a 3-agility ship for only 4 points is tempting. Probably a bit of a bait, though.

Also tempting with Rebels these days are double-tap Y-Wings. Two VTG Y-Wings and two E-Wings, put together in pretty much any way you can afford makes sense to me. Two R2 Knaves with two Ion/VTG Greys sounds fun. You could downgrade to Dorsal Turret to get either Crack Shot Rogues, or FCS on the Knaves. Likewise switching out of R2 droids for R4 or R3 could open up more options. Having double-mod E-Wing attacks on the approach makes the weak range 3 of the Y-Wings less scary.

As to your lists above, I'd tweak the talents a bit. I'd run Crack Shot on two ships in the EX list (not sure which), and probably just run 3x Crack Shot on the Talas in that list. Also, Composure is very bad on a Tala. Because a red action which fails still gives a stress, a Composure Tala won't be able to get a focus after a failed Barrel Roll, and Lock actions essentially can never fail; there's no realistic game where there isn't at least an asteroid or debris in range, so you'll always have to lock something.

I did put together this list so I would have beefier ships to slug it out waiting for the E-Wings to attack on the flanks. They are two double tap Y-Wings and I have never really had good luck with them.

Most of the time, I'm thinking about how I'd do stuff. Works for me, might not work for other folks.

2 suggestions:

Corran and Gavin with FCS, R3, and Predator, a Knave with R3 and FCS. Agile, speedy, hit and runners.

OR

2x Knaves with FCS and R3 and 2x Grays with VTG and ICT. More beef, double the attacks, some control elements
