Vassal Unique League(s) - Signups

Leader Roles:

Organizer - @BiggsIRL
Marshall - @BiggsIRL
Judges - Any Player Watching Your Games!

Format:

Structure: Custom - 6 player "Leagues"
Tier - Relaxed - Tournaments at this level are welcoming to all players, regardless of experience level. Players are encouraged to help each other improve and learn, so long as it does not significantly disrupt the game. The focus is on creating a fun and friendly environment."

Rules:

No lists. You read that right. This is a league not a tournament. Bring whatever you want for any given game (legal fleet building rules apply)... with one (additional) restriction:

**You can only bring a unique card once.**

Once you bring a unique card to a game it is locked out for the rest of the league play.

Players will be sorted into Leagues of 6 players each (with roughly the same time zones / schedules), who will play one another round-robin, with 1 game scheduled per week. Each game has a wiggle room of 1 week in either direction (i.e. Week 2's game can be played Week 1 or Week 3). WARNING: All games must be played by the end of Week 5! If you are unable to play 2 weeks in a row, you are considered to have forfeited the League and your missed and remaining games will be scored as though a concession to your opponent.

Typically a 400 point game is expected, but if players agree they may instead play a Sector Fleet game instead with points agreed to in advance by both parties.

Varsity or JV?

How good are you at Armada, and at Vassal?

I've placed in the top 4 at a Regional level or higher - Varsity.

I've been playing Armada since Wave 3 - Varsity.

I've never won a tournament - JV.

I've never used Vassal before - JV.

Ultimately, it's up to you whether you sign up for JV or Varsity, and unless your name is something like @JJs Juggernaut I'm not going to question your decision. Don't be a jerk.

GET WEIRD!

Due to demand, you can choose when you sign-up to GET WEIRD . If you do, you'll be placed in a League with other weirdos like yourself. JV and Varsity do not apply. You're the guys eating glue in the corner, not the Lettermen Jacket wearers here.

No fleet building rules apply other than the following things:

1) POINTS (400 unless agreed to in advance)

2) UNIQUES (1 use per tournament)

3) COMMANDERS (Gotta have at least 1)

4) OBJECTIVES (Bring 3. I don't care what color(s).)

Go nuts you beautiful, wonderful, booger eaters.

Does that include ships from both factions, or are you still restricted by faction?

Whatever you want between games that is. You're limited in each game by faction, but your next game you can switch factions.

🖕 ☹️ 🖕

If you want to play like a 600 point fleet patrol with 4 players but each of you are 2 players, I guess you can! Agree to it before the game though. Otherwise it's normal 400 point building rules.

Does this include the max-2 flotillas rule, and is the SSD Expansion stuff legal?

Time to come up with 5 unique lists...

How long does a normal Vassal game take - how much time should I be scheduling for it?

No.

GET WEIRD.

SSD Expansion cards are legal upon reveal, SSD itself is legal upon release.

Unless you're playing GET WEIRD, in which case... GET WEIRD.

Vassal takes a bit longer than a comparable table top meat space game, just due to the cumbersome nature of trying to simulate the game. Budget your time accordingly.

Well... I might have made a mistake.

So...commander cards are all unique.

Does that mean each round you are required to use a different commander?
