Just some fantasizing on my part, but these new era books are really fun IMO. These are some of the era sourcebooks I think they could/should make that I'd love to see, with their respective titles. As more content gets added/reintroduced into the continuity, this list can/will expand of course:
Galactic Intrigue - Era sourcebook for the period around Episode I: The Phantom Menace . Could be set in the decade leading up to TPM and discusses Qui-Gon Jinn's apprenticeship to Dooku, and Kenobi's subsequent training. What the Republic is doing before the events of the films. Sidious/Plagueis scheming. An in depth look at the Trade Federation and its organization/lore. Same for Naboo and the Gungans, maybe even the Jedi Council.
A State of Turmoil - An era sourcebook for the period between Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones . Would be politics-heavy (not complaining, as a political junkie I'm a fan), the book would overview the beginnings of a secessionist movement and the debates over the Republic's policies at the time. Profiles on familiar personalities but set in this period of time. Can really get into the meat of the entire Separatist ideology and the reasons many worlds have for wanting independence. Also could maybe bring in some info on Dooku's departure from the Order.
The New Order In Power - Era sourcebook for the period after ROTS to the beginning of Rebels (19 BBY - 5 BBY)... showcases the Imperialization of the Galaxy and the implementation of the New Order/its philosophical doctrine/The Senate's place in this period/key personas (Screed, Dodonna, Holt, Ishin-Il-Raz, etc.) and the role of the Advisors/the Reconquest of the Rim. Dawn of Rebellion was a good start, but focused on the beginnings of the Rebel Alliance. The years between Ep. III and Rebels is still barren, both in canon and the EU. A real chance to showcase some old EU concepts and characters as well as illustrate the absolute need for a rebellion to start against the New Order and its totalitarian reign. Basically I want to see something akin to 1984 in the SW Universe. (Sidenote, the inspiration for the title comes from Publius' excellent work on StarDestroyer.Net from back in 2008. Check it out if you haven't already).
Empire At War - Era sourcebook for the OT film period/Yavin to Endor (0 ABY - 4 ABY). Pretty self explanatory, but would be fun.
A New Beginning - Era sourcebook for the immediate aftermath of Endor through the Battle of Jakku and the rise of the New Republic (4 ABY - ?). Summarizes the disintegration of the Empire, the subsequent chaos and the eventual retreat to the Unknown Regions. This would again be a cool chance to reintroduce some of the better concepts of the old EU by introducing the idea of an Imperial Civil War and the fracturing of the Empire into warring fiefdoms competing for dominance and power, however petty it may be. Again, old names could resurface (Delvardus, Zsinj, Harrsk, Teradoc, Kaine, etc.). This will probably not be an option until after Episode XI releases, but one can hope.
Obviously these are fantasies of a fan, but I think they would be able to work very well. Of course, they would take a while to be released, and we may have to wait until certain movies/films/TVshows come out, but still. Dawn of Rebellion was a book I have a lot of positive feelings for, since it incorporated a lot of old EU material, and seems to be a faithful continuation of the WEG ideas for Star Wars (I believe it was the first canon book to mention the CompForce as a thing). I would love a few Old Republic era ones, too (who wouldn't) but we still don't know what they're doing with that era yet in the current continuity. Any other ideas? Thoughts?
