Collapse of the Republic era book

By GroggyGolem, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Yeah we should be okay as far as Season 7 goes. The final season will likely be about wrapping stories up from previous arcs (the big one being the Death Watch / Maul / Ahsoka) rather than introducing whole new factions, etc so I imagine anything that is going to feature in the new episodes prominently will be stuff that's already appeared in the main run and has a good chance of appearing in either book.

It's not my cup of tea and I have never finished The Clone Wars... I KNOW I KNOW!!! I'll get there someday! I'm thinking of watching the last two or three seasons in bits, like Asoka leaving the order arc, and Yoda finding Darth Bane arc.

I would highly recommend starting with the Mon Cala episodes (season 4 I believe) and going from there. That's the half way point in the series and it really just gets better after that. The four episodes on the planet Umbara (possible spelling) are all incredibly good clone-centric episodes and are among my favorite. If you like the intrigue of seeing a Republic collapse, these are the seasons to watch. Lots of subterfuge and lies that all play a part in Anakin's betrayal, the execution of Order 66, and the overall Collapse of the Republic (name drop).

There's a few individual episodes you can afford to skip, but most of them are well done and very interesting.

It's probably a little too mono-focused for a its own sourcebook, but I wonder if there's any gold to be mined in Disneyland's soon to be opened Star Wars Land?

I'd say that'll probably be covered in a TFA era sourcebook sometime after the release of Episode IX.

I think the one thing about Clone Wars that really irritated me was that the order the episodes were shown in is not chronological. The episodes jump all around within the 3-year span of the war.

Not to be confused with a "True Jedi" expansion that makes the PC's gather studs.

I for one can't wait for a Lego Star Wars sourcebook.

Tech characters will have a field day.

It's like it was intentionally aired in the wrong order.

There's a chronological list. It's a lot of switching back and forth but the story flows better that way.

I’d love to see how “Official” StarScavenger stats compare to my homebrew attempt.

The Dark Times comic and the 2nd Darth Vader Comic published by Marvel is probably my favorite time period in SW lore. When the Empire rules with an Iron First across the Galaxy. Therefore this book is very intriguing. Going to wait to see how in depth it goes post Order 66 before purchasing it.

It's not the wrong order, it's the Star Wars order! OT, prequels, sequels. :D

The Harch and Karkarodons are very nice choices for lesser used species. Anyone have any careers they'd think would fit these two species?

The problem is that we only have one on-screen example of each of these species so we don't know if those individuals were particularly representative of their respective species. Admiral Trench was a strategic genius but we don't know if that's typical for Harch. Riff Tamson was brutal and physically powerful, but maybe he was a particularly strong Karkarodon?

Knowing Star Wars, I guess we can probably assume these are typical exemplars of those species.

So far, we've had three "extra limbs" species and all have had a 3/2/2/2/1/1 stat array so the Harch will probably be the same. For the 3 stat, we've already seen Brawn (Besalisk), Agility (Xexto), and Intellect (Quermian), so I'm betting Harch will get a different 3 - likely Cunning. I'm betting on either 2/2/1/3/2/1 or 2/1/2/3/2/1. If that's the case, Bounty Hunter, Spy, or Sentinel seem like interesting career options, though Explorer could be good too.

Karkarodons probably give us another 3 Brawn amphibious species. I'm not sure what they will bring to the table that we can't already get from Nautolans and Kalleran. Hired Gun and Warrior seem like obvious choices, but maybe something more interesting will jump out as we get more details.

The Karkarodon pictured is, if anything, smaller than the average person. I wouldn’t be surprised if they take the route of saying that Tamson was just exceptionally strong.

Hopefully they don't then go and make the average one toothless too.

Knowing FFG, that wouldn’t suprise me.

And since they're based off of sharks, so if they don't spend a maneuver moving each turn, they start to drown!

This is not OK. You can just announce sourcebooks like this if you don’t actually release anything.

I don't understand this attitude and I never will. It's fan entitlement at its worst.

First, everyone was complaining that there were no books on the horizon and positing that the death of the line was imminent. Now, there are several announced books in development, but they're not releasing fast enough.

There's no pleasing you.

There's Legends stuff about how Harch took part in the Ando Wars, but apparently despise comparisons between themselves and the Aqualish (similar to Duros and Nemoidians). I wonder if that will be kept in this book's new lore for the Harch. Though aside from some spider characteristics, they look much more different from the Aqualish compared to Duros/Nemoidians.

They “consider such inquiries to be obscene”... that’s very much open to interpretation.

Information on the broadest strokes of these last few stories have been made available for years, so it’s probably all good.

I hope new clone wars episodes go for the two seasons originally planned. Probably won't be that lucky.

According to Dave Faloni, it's going to be twelve episodes. That's it.

Oh well so all the story arcs they have already out in some form, bad batch, Crystal Crisis? Hopefully the Quinlin Vos dark disciple arc, and the invasion of Mandalore.

From the trailer, the Bad Batch are definitely part of it, as is the Invasion of Mandalore. That appears to be the focus of these final episodes.

From what I understand, the Crystal Crisis and Bad Batch story arcs are 2 of the 3 being done because the dialog was already finished and the animation was is done but not in a finished state. IIRC you can watch those 2 story arcs, in their unfinished state, on YouTube. The Invasion of Mandalore should be the final story arc of the series, especially with both Rex and Ahsoka having to fake their deaths to evade capture and, most likely, death.
