Tauntaun Riders! And Rebel Veterans!

By Indy_com, in Star Wars: Legion

2 Actications in a single corps slot for 78 points... eww... I really hope something is done about the balooning activation spam before these hit the tables.

I won’t change my theme of paint, but oh these look so fun.

@TauntaunScout your wishes are coming true

Since it's the thing to do: @TauntaunScout 😛

THIS is what I would MUCH rather see than just a "reskin" of existing units, new units in the same slot with different keywords and that provide more options.

Edit: Also, the (probably exhaust) heavy weapon's Critical 2 looks like a strictly better version of impact.

Can anyone make out what "Critical 2" reads, as much as can be seen on the card for the heavy trooper upgrade?

4 Hitpoints across two units (ignore this, it was a thought for a post I decided against)

I think your crits do double damage against unarmored units.

Let's join in the fun! @TauntaunScout, have you seen those?!

To be honest, while Vets looks balanced and fun, Tauntauns on the first sight looks nuts.

I believe the word surges is in there. Probably changes up to 2 surges to crits.

Is it me, or are these veterans straight up power creep over the normal troopers? I mean 4 points more for that offensive surge is pretty good.

Tuantauns are similar to speeder bikes but seem to be balanced accordingly. Speeder bikes are still good.

Those tauntauns have me looking to hang up my Storm trooper armor and start fighting with the other rebel scum! Though I'm sure dewbacks will remind me why I fight for the side of good and for the emperors galactic empire.

Dewbacks do sustain themselves on a diet of tauntauns.

I don't think it is better than Impact. I think Critical 2 means that you get to convert two surges to critical hits rather than normal hits (like they normally do). If that is true, it is a lesser form of Impact, as you have to role surges to get the critical hits and avoid armor, not just get hits (either normal or by surges) and then convert them.

Missed the word "surge" while squinting. Not quite as good as I thought, so it might not be exhaust? If it's not exhaust, that still seems pretty good against all targets.

aren’t normal Rebels 40? So this is an 8 point premium.

It looks like you loose nimble and gain 8pts for the surge. It is pretty good but not really straight up better. Itll probably depend on how the heavy weapons look but I think I am going to need at least two boxes.

You also get a free Dodge token every turn. every time you issue them an order.

They also have Dodge 1, gaining a free dodge token when issued an order.

Edit: They also have the ability to equip a training upgrade. The first Corps unit to have that (which is why they are probably called "Veterans").

Lore-wise, Taun Tauns are reptiles and so is Bossk

Only if you are issued an order, though.

Huh, I had a fundamental misunderstanding of activations during the turn. For some reason I thought the act of "activating the unit" was just "issuing an order" after the command phase. Thanks for the correction!

But will they smell bad on the outside?

I'm "meh" on the Tauntauns. To each their own. The Veterans look good. Really curious about the Mk. II blaster cannon, and how it is introduced. I was really, really hoping that they'd introduce it with a generator upgrade that read "increase your max range by 1" and it could go on the E-Web, but oh well. Still hope, eventually.

Does anyone want to start taking bets on when the Imperial article equivalent will be up? And what it'll have? Dewbacks are a certainty, but what about the Corps? Mudtroopers, Shoretroopers, Navy Troopers?

Ah! There they are... Happy!

so tauntans i called a few months ago that it would be announce about now.
also 90 points agile 1 do a standard move get a dodge, relentless reposition (free pivot)sharpshooter 1 unhindered (ignore difficult terain) surge to both also endurance (remove 1 suppression after the activation phase)
rebel veteran 40/48 points cordinate emplacement trooper (issue this unit a order token give a emplacement trooper at range 1 a order also gain 1 dodge toekn range 1-3, 1 black. heavy weapon is either 3-4 white with critical 2 (looks like you convert 2 surges to crits??) also 30 points for the a emplacement trooper add on.

Yeah, Dewbacks for certain. I think the Corps will be Shoretroopers, as they make sense as the Imperial "Veterans" (the Navy Troopers do not fit that in my view).

if anything it will be sandtroopers and dewbacks.
