I'm tickled pink. My biggest problem is, I can't possibly keep up with my painting backlog now!

I don’t understand this painting thing you mentioned. What’s that?

It’s a game changer!

Anyone notice the veterans are 30$?

The higher price would be due to the MkII Medium Blaster mini.

I would like to see a unit that rides up on Dewbacks and dismounts to fight.

I would like to see you ride up on a dewback and get gored by the horns of my steed.

It must be because they come with that support unit (I’m guessing it’s a support since there’s an extra unit card).

Or a Corps unit that requires a Veteran to be in the army list to be included, which might be why FFG called it a "Detachment" a couple of times in the article. Which would also explain the higher price if they can be used as part of the requirements for Corps units.

I'm guessing the extra plastic meant FFG decided to increase the price to keep their minimum profits. There may also have been a slight increase in packaging costs due to having to include two different bases (depending on if the packaging is automated or done by hand).

True but I would also raise this point: the most handsome person on the forum has announced they plan on painting at least 5 squads plus homebrew some character conversations.

Hmm, yeah, okay, these things are total power creep. Going to have to buy a heard of them too.

I cannot objectively evaluate them. No matter how good or terrible they are, I'll be using them in pretty much all my rebel lists for as long as I keep playing Legion.

Bring it, intestine boy!

Yes. $30 times 6 :(

Get them on the table first

I’ll be buying a set of these for the sole purpose of having a gutted tauntaun to cram Luke into as scatter terrain.

Don't forget a taxidermied head hanging on an interior wall!

I had no interest in building a Hoth mat or painting my 1.4 in winter theme until this latest announcement. I’m also curious if the AT-RT rider will fit on the tauntaun.

If you're in a hurry and/or on a budget, Hoth is the easiest battlefield to make. Get a white piece of felt or if you're really pressed, take a white sheet out of the closet. Cover table in white cloth. Lots of rocks are seen poking out of the snow in ESB: get some small rocks and use them as 35mm scale big rocks, these will provide cover. Cut out some ovals of light blue construction paper for rough terrain. Get some free chunks of white styrofoam packing material from wherever, use them as LOS blocking cliffs and/or hills until you have enough terrain for a challenging game. Done.

An "extra" fun Hoth-themed army feels prohibitively expensive to some. It doesn't have to be. Core sets are remarkably cheap if you hunt around. Paint a core set's worth of rebels in the white/grey color scheme detailed by Teri Litorco's videos. Adding one of each announced/released Hoth rebel unit that gives you 3 corps and 3 different support. An interesting themed battle can be played with that even if it's not "competitive". You can transfer wookies, droids, and classically painted T-47's from your main rebel collection without trouble, to boost your points. There's not any really ideal Hoth rebel commanders now. Either do a repaint or just ignore that Luke's in the wrong outfit: he can easily pass a "Control" check every turn to stay warm :) You've got until June to paint that white core set of rebels, get going! Shouldn't be hard, Teri's video is great because your mistakes naturally cancel each other out. Using her method I assembly-line painted a squad of troopers in 44 minutes of brush-time. The only thing I changed was (besides using different brands of paint!), I painted the faces AFTER doing the white drybrushing. But it's a color scheme that's genius in it's simplicity.

As for Hoth themed Imperials, the 3x snowtroopers is a tough pill for some to swallow. But if you do that, you're probably done! Most imperial players own Vader, Veers, and an AT-ST. Vader and an AT-ST is over half the points you need already. Spackle with e-webs, imperial droids, and whatever as needed to get your army functional. Snowtroopers are easy to paint as they really don't have any black besides guns and eyes!

Since neither army is competitive, it should still make for a fair and challenging game.

I may as well apply for a wholesale account, given how many I'm liable to buy :(

Now I have to make another squad of tauntuans with tiger stripes. How can I not, knowing this is a real thing?

"Home of the Intestine Coils" would be more accurate, but less catchy.
