Aha! That makes sense now that I read the card again. It would be terrifying if they followed you around.

Say they attach on the back and they no lo nger fit on the back, do they blow up or can they move to the front where they would fit? One crit a round until destroyed is truly terrifying.
Also, the way I read Discord Missles is they can get launched before any ship starts shooting. It is at the start of the phase, not before the carrier ship would engage.
After you overlap them, they can be placed at either the front or back, regardless of where they were before. You have to fit in one or the other if you can, you only blow up if both are blocked (though blocking one may force them to move to the other where you can escape them next turn ).
Both missile launch happens at beginning of Engagement Phase , not "before you engage".
Edited by ObiWonkaSo what I'm hearing is that I need to buy and fire two discord missiles and hook the front AND back.

Buzz Droids deal damage at Initiative 0, so should work on the same turn they're launched.

Corrected. I was reading the "Engagement Phase", skipping over "At your initiative" (which I did read correctly the first time).

Where is wave IV? Gimme adv sensor bwings STAT!

There is a non-zero chance that we may yet see a buzz-droid torpedo that can be equipped on starvipers.

this is a graph of sadness, do not look upon it

Gotta spend both, otherwise no launch.
Good shout knew I must have missed something.
**** you FFG! All these articles are making CIS look so interesting and fun that I am going to have to buy them even though I really didn’t want to.
Seems to me this can happen:
An enemy ship flies through your buzz droids. They are placed in a non-overlapping location in the front or back guides. Other enemy ships then move and overlap the droids. At Init 0 of Engagement, every enemy ship at Range 0 takes a crit.
Correction: buzz droids would relocate to the latest enemy ship that overlapped them.
Edited by J1mBobI think the buzz droids are going to be incredibly fun!

If a second enemy ship overlaps the buzz droids, wouldn't they attach to that ship...?
So as long as you reposition after you move through them, there’s no penalty?
Seems like these will be hard to consistently trigger. More an annoyance than anything else. Hope they’re cheap enough to make worth taking for the laughs.
And ffg, you are making it harder and harder to say no to the droid swarms. The separatist mechanics look like so much fun except for the swarmy cheap ships that insta-detonate when attacked.

You are correct.

Only Barrel roll, and only if we understand the rules correctly.
What happens if you shoot it with a tractor beam? I see no lines for a barrel roll on these things, but there is the indentation for a possible boost. It would be hilarious if we could move it back on an enemy ship

Isn't it that only a ship can be teactored, not these devices?
If not, I guess it will be updated in this accord.
If a normal post-maneuver barrel roll frees you of them, I’ve got less interest.

Still useful if you can launch it and make the launch overlap immediately since it's at the start of engagement phase.
Buzz droids look like a lot of fun, but honestly not super difficult to play around--which is a good thing, in my opinion.
1) In practice, they will only ever deal their crit to 1 ship at a time
2) You can barrel roll them off of you (still costing you an action if you weren't going to barrel roll in the first place and can't just do it for free, so a minor opportunity cost)
3) You can shoot them off (a major opportunity cost, unless the shooter has no enemy ships to fire upon)
4) They take minor opportunity costs to employ (spend a calculate token, take up your missile slot, but DON'T take your attack)
On the surface, this seems like good game design to me. Fun and interesting, but not overwhelming, and difficult to abuse. I expect buzz droids to be pretty cheap, because of the limitations of the ordnance itself and also because generally speaking they aren't likely to often do more than 1 damage.
Edited by Maui.I am having doubts that they don't stick or that a Barrel Roll will clear them. I know what it says, but I just think it has to be different.
I'd say 7-10 points, it's likely you'll get at least 1 crit *plus* force either wasted actions next turn (barrel roll or fly near a rock etc.) and/or wasted shot(s) at an Agi 3 target. Loose Buzz Droids will mess with your opponent's plans and get in their head. These look really good to me, compared to say one procket at 7 points.

Nevermind, just noticed that they only do damage to "enemy ships", even if the enemy overlaps.
I love the three dot design space for these. One would be kinda weak but 6 or 8 would be ridiculous.
