What have you played this year?

By Alzer, in Star Wars: Armada

And I do mean *calendar* year. What sort of strange new lists have people been doing out? (There is no try!)

I put a SW:Rebels Empire list in the table that included only models and uniques that are featured in the show. (Thankfully it recanonized Thrawn, I've done my time with Konstantine).

Turns out Arquittens with IF are still good!

So what have y'all been playinm

One game. With Sloane. Yesterday.

Imp squadrons are still good. Rebel squadrons too.

Nothing yet so far :(

3 separate iterations of Nose Punch

Xwing due to baby and xwing being 1hour, I dont get coupons for 2hour games any more from the wife

Sloane 2 ship for about 2 months. It feels like performing surgery; take Pryce Avenger, scalpel out the heart of your opponent's list, mop up the pieces.

It's triggered a little dismay, so I'm going squadless (Raddus, JJ 4 Arq +Kuat, Leia HHs, Screed) for the month to convince some of the grumblers they still have choices.

2.0 is also a **** good game!

Sloane 2-ship is fantastic fun, won our Regionals with it and had such a good time doing it. Got to fly it there against Rieekan Aces, Thrawn 2-ship, Ackbar Pickles, Dodonna MSU and Sloane Generics, so a lot of varied games where it could play a lot of different ways.

My latest experiment is a Garm Alpha Strike list, with bits of @shmitty and @BiggsIRL Dumpster Fire, some of @xero989 E-Wing sniping, plus a lot of modifications me and another of the Scottish players have been discussing.

I took a quad Vic list to a local tournament and it did surprisingly well. Luckily I avoided playing the guy with 8 Lancers.

Since we started our league at the beginning on the year, I have been running all sorts of Imperial Lists, each with a different commander (normally a Rebel traitor). Konstantine Vic-II, Interdictor, Raider, and Scum Rogues. Tagge MSU. Motti LMSU. The Ozzel Raider Swarm and Screed MSUs are coming up this month. Not many are competitive, but it is pretty fun to fly something new.

I played twice this year.

Once with a 2X Exodus fleet home one ackbar build. Showed a new guy how aggravating projection experts can be.

Once with triple liberties because I have an unreasonable amount of fun with that list and it performs better against squads than one would expect. 3X Black-Black flak adds up

I've played 3 games with a Raddus-Pelta-MC80-MC80L list. Pretty fun. Then played an 800-pt Sector Fleet game with 4 players where I had a Dodonna-Yavaris-MC75-Aces list.

This year so far I've probably only played armada 5 or 6 times. I've run an Nk-7 based list called "snapping turtle" a sloane fleet twice, an 800 pointer, and a few with my VT-49 spam list.... It's been a fun year.

@Darth Sanguis NK-7s? Do tell!

So far this year I've been running my Raddus-doom list competitively (180-point MC80 Assault, 130-point MC75 Ordnance, Hammerhead Torpedo and two GR-75s), and been working on a Thrawn bombers list (Cymoon, Demo, Gozanti, 4 Bombers, Maarek-Jendon, Dengar-Soontir).

I've also played around on Vassal with the SSD, and tried out 1000-point Vassal game (against myself because of the timings); Ackbar MC80s+MC75s+MC30s+CR90s v Vader triple-ISDs + 2 Gladiators).

Well, if you insist. :D

= 0 total squadron cost

The match started with me as first player. The objective was contested outpost I believe (it was a while ago @cynanbloodbane can fact check 'cause he was the opponent).

My opponents fleet was motti with 2 ISDs and 2 VSDs ( i think?)

I corner deployed with my ISD closest to the left corner at speed 1, and my two VSDs within distance 1 of each other also at speed 1, all three facing forward. First couple of rounds the VSDS pushed slowly into long range getting the QBT blue to proc the Nk-7s and running the IOs each shot, leaving the opponent's VSDs pretty bare by round 3. The ISD ran up the side listing towards the edge of the mat slowly. Round 3 My ISD used both a nav dial and token to jump up to speed 3 and cut right hard into the flank of their ships for a round 4 first activation. Round 4 saw both enemy VSDs drop, and left the ISD doomed for round 5's opening activation. He had deployed an ISD to the far right, I don't remember if it had time to engage or whether it avoided the fight. All I remember was the Nk-7 & IO combo token shredding rounds 2-3... it was brutal.

Sadly....Not. One. Game.

Im even blowing off the idea of another NOVA run in favor of 40k.

It saddens me.

That's original to be sure! Hadn't thought to pair NK7s with Intel Officer

At long range, IO's not so handy, they basically have 2 rounds of throwing away expendable tokens just for the NK-7s, once in medium range, there's too much damage to avoid using braces and such so the IOs really make the 4th round deadly, as by then ships are near bare. That's where the double crit kuat comes in and last hits stuff.

I haven't had the chance to run it more, but I plan to.

Screed Warlord HIE VSD, Kallus Demo with Fletchettes, Hondo Repair Crews Gozanti, plus 6 squads.

It did really well (10-1 and 9-2) in two friendly games, but did poorly at Regionals. Probably should've practiced more before Regionals; I would've changed some things in retrospect. A fun list though!

A few casual games this year, plus one 2v2 Sector Fleet game (4x600 for 2400 points total on the table).

Flew mostly Imperial so far (Screed, Thrawn, JJ), but flew Rebs under Leia for the Sector Fleet game.

Played a Sloane Phantom list and a 3x MK2 Friagte Ackbar list in normal 400pt 1v1.

Last week we did a 2 vs 2 in which I played a Dodonna APT list. Strange list as I used good number of squads, but didn't have good squad pushers in the list.

Sadly that's all so far this calander year.

I need to plan a Sector Fleet some Saturday. How have folks been enjoying Sector Fleet?

Been mostly toying with Thrawn Bomber lists and running JJ for Regionals. May dip into the jank tank a bit now that the tourney season is over now.

TLDR: LOVE IT.

I've played it once a couple weeks ago. Two of the four players haven't played many games, but we all had fun. Not surprisingly, it did take about double normal time. It was definitely a scrum, though!
