Old Luke as crew upgrade for Resistance

By Jakca666, in X-Wing Off-Topic

How many of you would like to see an old Luke as a crew upgrade for Resistance, and what should his ability be?

Well, he was never in a ship on epviii, and the only power he manifested was to project across the galaxy and mess with Kylo's mind. So based on that, his ability would have to be decoy-oriented.

I'd wager he might be around ep ix as a force ghost, tho. That might bring in some more information and thematic ties as to what he might be able to do in the sequel Era.

Issue stress/jam/ion/ect. At or beyond range 3, possibly strip force token off force users...

Just as you say @takfar , he was never on a ship in ep VIII, but he was messing with Kylo on a great distance so I´ve also been thinking about some sort of decoy-oriented ability. And as you say @RuusMarev it should definately work at or beyond range 3.

The question is: Is he actually on the ship at all, or does he just trick the oponent thinking that he is ;P

Luke as a force-ghost in ep IX is probably one of the safest bets you can make ;)

Possible have him as a device like the Probe from the Infiltrator expansion... Ship card, and a token placed somewhere on the board.... "During setup faze, place Luke token using "insert here" movement tool..."

He should subvert all expectations.

Hehe! Thats nice!

Luke Skywalker - Old and bitter mentor - Ability: Subversion - When you become the defender. Spend one force charge and place the subversion token next to your ship. All enemy ships must attack you with every weapon option they have and all attacks against you automatically misses. You may then remove your subversion token and setup anywhere on the board. 😜

I'd propose a dual-mode card, somewhat similar to L3-37 or the upcoming Palpatine/Sideous card.

The 'primary' facing would give +1 Force, and give an ability to support allies under attack. Maybe something along the lines of "When an allied ship at range 1-3 is becomes the defender, you may spend one Force charge. If you do, you may select one of the attacker's dice. The attacker must reroll that dice." This would represent him using illusions/mind-trick to make the enemy less effective on the attack. He would also have "At the start of the engagement phase, you may flip this card."

On the 'flip' side, he would not grant the +1 Force, and instead have a single (non-recurring) charge. The ability on this side would read "At the start of the engagement phase, you may spend one charge. If you do, whenever an allied ship defends this round, you may select two of the attacker's dice. The attacker must reroll these dice. The charge on this card cannot be recovered."

This allows Luke to provide support for an ally, with the option of a one-time OH **** button. It'd also allow for a nice flip-side art of Luke standing alone in front of the First Order army.

This entire time I thought "old" in the case meant that you wanted the 1st edition Rebel crew card of Luke as a 2nd edition crew card for Resistance, but realistically that would be a gunner in 2nd.

Either way, I'd like to see a new Luke in Resistance faction. So what if he wasn't on a ship.

Leave him alone and gain focus.

Crowd him and everyone just wants off the ship faster.

Yes, please.

2 force crew card.

Purple evade action.

+2 Force
At the start of the engagement phase you may spend all of your force, if you do no other friendly ship may be attacked this phase and if you are destroyed you are not removed until the end of this phase.

At the start of the End Phase, if you have zero force chages you are destroyed.

Instead of "At the start of the End Phase" how about "After the Engagement Phase" so we don't have another Tavison/Baffle headache.

That would work just as well. Since it says "At the start of the End Phase" it will occur before anything else in the End Phase including any force recovery, but I don't think there would be any downside to using the End of the Engagement Phase. As long as Luke dies near the end of the movie round from overusing the force, it fits the spirit of the card. 🙂
