There's literally no reason for them not to, assuming we get more content. If some people don't want him.....just don't buy him? I imagine a fair number of people who are against him probably wouldn't be playing skirmish anyway.

The one area they dropped the ball in this game was providing a wealth of side missions with not enough time, or reason, to explore them all.
I've got a stack of side missions from all the figure packs my group will never get to playing.
This is part of the reason LOTR has such an appeal I think, playing as the actual heroes. Hopefully they don't show Boromir on a box and include a token though in future expansions

I guess.
My group plays allies because they're fun and add to the game.
They may not always be the optimal side mission, but they've had a lot of success with them still, and they're killer for flavor.
Crates are kind of the opposite, for us. Like, they might contain something good, but who wants to spend at least an entire turn moving to a crate and opening it, then having to possible use another action next turn to move back into a relevant position? In a six round game, that's almost a third of the game spent essentially on fetching a single item. That's no fun at all.
I'm also really excited for the LOTR game, though I actually kind wish it had a system more similar to IA- Gimli doesn't bother me too much, but having Bilbo around feels especially strange.
I'd rather just have random hereos, I think. Though, if the allies could be a little more justifiable, I wouldn't complain.

That would work provided he's not part of a box expansion. I don't have agent Blaise, nor do I want him, but the app regularly puts him in my games because I own Bespin. Same with Palpatine. Even though he isn't included in Heart of the Empire, like Jabba, he's completely integral to his respective box, and I didn't particularly want him in the game either. This will likely be a problem when I get around to buying Lothal, which I want, because I want Zeb and Sabine like I want another Rian Johnson trilogy, which is to say not at all.

If they put him in a campaign, then he's likely going to be implemented in way appropriate to the character (assuming we get OT Yoda, rather than a PT Yoda, which we likely would). People may have an issue with him showing up in a squad game like Skirmish, but is there really an issue with him showing up in a story driven mode as long as he acts like Yoda?
The app also isn't really a reason, because Yoda's an ally, not an enemy. The game won't auto insert him into missions. You'd literally never have to use him if you don't want to, so at worst it's maybe costing you getting another ally?
