Yoda, Yay or Nay

By BadMothaBantha, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So my question is whether or not you think we will eventually see a Yoda expansion?

I would definitely have thought not but I would have thought the same of Palpatine before he was released.

Reasons why I think he may be incorporated are:

- He is an iconic figure in both the clone wars and the galactic civil war.

- He is obviously a fan favorite.

- He would provide a strong force centric jedi character to the Rebels that seems to fit their playstyle.

Reasons I think he will be skipped:

- There are already a TON of rebel jedi characters now and i can see them focusing more on heroes from Rogue One and such instead.

- He would be old (even for Yoda) by the time of the game.

I'm voting no, or perhaps he'll be the very last figure they create. Either way, he will not be a combatant and will function like C3P0 in some capacity. I guess he could hurt people with force push...

I vote No.

I love the little guy, I was against Palps getting in also; I think these guys belong on a different scale to a standard IA campaign mission.

From a Skirmish point of view, I think the power levels of Palps and Yoda have to be scaled back to a point they lose their iconic status.

I want Zuckass and 4-LOM way before the Yoda question comes up.

I'm with TheEldarGuy...Yoda would be great fun, but let's complete the bounty hunter set first...we're almost there!!!

I'm voting Yes. How can you have a complete star wars game without one of the most iconic characters, even if it is for only one mission? If they are not afraid to release Greedo, the inquisitor and obi-wan, surely they can release Yoda as well.

I don't expect we'll get anything more at all, but if we do, we'll surely get Yoda eventually - one of the most iconic characters in Star Wars.

I just hope we get ESB Yoda (with the Non-combatant ability... "wars not make one great") rather than ridiculous stupid acrobatic lightsaber-saint prequel Yoda.

I think players would respond better with an Empire based campaign over Yoda. I could see an Empire ISB agent, a force sensitive operative (without a lightsaber), and maybe an Imperial Officer. The opponent could take a Hutt gangster, and the Imps (they still have a job to do in keeping the peace) need to bust up the syndicate.

for Skirmish, the Imps could be named characters, we could finally get the LOM, a new Hutt figure (or at least some new Hutt gangster profiles).

I know that the Imps are supposed to be the bad guys, but has anyone seen the movie The Night of the Generals ?

That's what I'd prefer to see before Yoda, Mace Windu, Yaddle, or Yarael Poof.

Yes for Yoda for me.

Jedi support with non-combatant abilities.

no brainer really for them to make him.

Or just a Inferno Squad style special forces team that hunts down important rebel targets. One of which could even be Yoda so win-win :P

Why not both? An anti-hero large box expansion, and Yoda as an ally/villain pack, would quite happily live alongside one another.

Throw Ally/Villain packs for 4-LOM/Zuckuss and Scout Troopers into the same wave, and it's done. Imperial Assault: finished.

...but again, my cynicism tells me we won't see any of it.

I want Yoda!

I want him as an Ally Pack. And I want him to become (non-combatant) centrepiece of Jedi list.

or, you know, just include cost 2 card named "Jedi Squad" or something like that in his Pack. And make this card (that can only be used if your list contains only Jedi figures) allow all your figures to reroll one die in each attack and defense roll. And, at exhausting this card, to automatically exhaust the least-priced opponent group.

Maybe then we will see other Rebel lists than Spectre Cell

btw, I would also like to have at least one unit of non-named Jedi. Like, two or three of them on one card.

I don't see why not.

We already have support characters that are thematically questionable like Palpatine, Jabba, and Thrawn.

We have characters that are canonically questionable (depending on the campaign you're on), like the Grand Inquisitor, Greedo, Obi Wan, and the HKs.

Yoda's one of the most iconic characters in the OT and the PT. At this point, not including him seems odd.

I wasn't a fan of Palpatine's inclusion, and I am not a fan of Yoda's inclusion. He does not play a part in the Galactic civil war, other than to train Luke, and he isn't someone who'd be on a tactical, squad based, combat scenario. I know the skirmish people want him, because more plastic, and more meta shake up, but I don't.

My vote is yes. Why not? Do or do not. There is no why.

Yes. Yes please. As long as Yoda and the Scout Troopers remain unmade, I consider my IA collection to be incomplete.

We so rarely have missions that involve the Force the way that Diala's side mission does. Give us the blasted figure and one really clever Force-based mission.

I'm hoping when Yoda comes into play he helps boost Force users as a support type figure. Relatively cheap, not a ton of impact, but some sort of bonus for those using the force user trait. Perhaps if they have force user and not spectre, to help out the likes of Obi-Wan, Diala, Davith, jedi Luke Etc..

I could see him having an ability that could levitate (or, put simply, "move") crates too, making them more viable in campaigns.

It definitely wouldn't be the first time measures like that have been taken, but they're often still tough to justify.

I would love a Yoda figure. Big "yay" for me.

With that said, I don't think that I would ever say "nay" to anything. I had no idea who 000 and BT1 were when they were announced, but it doesn't make them any less fun to play with. Sure it doesn't make a lot of sense for palp to be out fighting wookiee warriors, but I can 1) choose to not care about that, or 2) choose not to buy it/play with that figure if I do care about it.

I'd love to see Yoda added to the game, heck anything to get it moving again...

There seems so much missed opportunities for this game.... They missed Episode 7, 8, Rogue One and Solo, not a single tie-in to any of those movies... its an instant boost to do tie ins with new variants or updates.... There are dozens of characters they could use...

Hopefully they are working on maybe doing a rebooted 2.0 version, since while they might have wanted Legion to replace it, it hasn't....

But no good ones.

Agree, bring us Mara Jade and stuff like that (i liked Rogue One though :P), but Yoda should still have priority over EU stuff

Death Troopers came from Rogue One first, but I agree we could use more from that.

Yoda? Yay. Give me content, any content

I think any ally mission is hard to justify given the current model lol. Unless you are faced with no other options besides two ally missions, any other reward/personal reward/cash etc.. is better IMO.

The one area they dropped the ball in this game was providing a wealth of side missions with not enough time, or reason, to explore them all.

I've got a stack of side missions from all the figure packs my group will never get to playing.

This is part of the reason LOTR has such an appeal I think, playing as the actual heroes. Hopefully they don't show Boromir on a box and include a token though in future expansions :P

Who in his right mind would say nay?!? I'd love to get Yoda just to paint him and put him next to all the other cool characters from the movies and shows I've already painted for Imperial Assault!
