Autofire: Quick Question

That's only true for the OT, which is played in the Outer Rim. It's supposed to be lawless, and western-y feel. The law still works in the "civilized" regions

Unfortunately, that law isn't really spelled out. GMs will have to decide for themselves if a vibroknife or a blaster pistol is illegal on any given world. The Restricted (R) doesn't technically even mean something is illegal--it just means you have to use Streetwise to bargain for it (for...reasons).

In France you can buy a gun but you must register it with the Authority. And you need a licence to carry it openly. Licence that's very difficult to obtain. If you want a gun without being registered, you must use "streetwise" to buy it in the illegal market. That's how I see Restricted (R) in Star Wars.

That doesn't explain how a light repeating blaster that you carry is Restricted but an auto-blaster mounted on your personal vehicle is not Restricted (despite being far more deadly). Likewise, X-wings are not Restricted, and neither are Mon Cal Cruisers...no wonder the Rebellion had such an easy time arming itself.

Basically, the whole "Restricted" ruleset is total crap.

I agree with you in both point.

We don't really get Imperial controlled civilized worlds on the screen, only mentioned here and there, especially in the EU. Still, In My Star Wars©, the Outer Rim is the Wild West, while the MidRim and inner regions are the peaceful (from civilian point of view) planets living a higher quality life, provided by the security of law. (Similar to the modern North America and Europe)

Also this is not in sync at all with the (R) system (nothing syncs well with that actually) so I too manually decide these things too. Though the CRB says it itself that it could change planet by planet. But still, the (R) system doesn't make sense

One way I see the (R) is it’s not always illegal it my be it’s so strange or not used by the general public that it’s much harder to get

A good RL example is rocket fuel or some drugs it’s not illegal per say but they like to keep paper work on who buys it as if something bad happens they can track them down

Yeah, though the Heavy Blaster Rifle is hardly a huge machine gun and it’s the most common Autofire weapon. It’s not significantly larger than a regular blaster rifle. Anywhere that allows you to open carry a rifle or carbine will allow an HBR.

Nope. Not at my table. An ak47 and a hunting riffle are two separate things. Similar size but very different public reaction.

If you pull up to an outer rim bar, leaving your auto blaster swoop outside is acceptable. Bringing your assault riffle inside is not.

If you drive around with a auto blaster swoop in anything but the outer rim, is say your gonna get the cops called unless you look like security. Cops will ask for you permit.
