If they would make new monsters, they should remake them so all information is on one side. It can get annoying to have to flip them around throughout the game to check the dimensional symbol, awareness and name, when all of that could have fit on the other side (with some creative placement). At the very least, the dimensional symbol should be on the back with the main stats, so you can know when to move it without having to turn it around.

?! I always place them on the board to show the dimension symbol. They're only turned over if I'm considering to engage them. Imho, that's you're supposed to use them and it works just fine.

I have them upright in stands, and the thing is, a lot of what factors into whether you'd consider to engage them depends on their combat/horror/toughness/abilities. That's the information I care more about, but there's no reason they couldn't have at least put the dimensional symbol on there as well so you wouldn't need to bother with the other side at all unless you wanted to evade...

painted or not painted, it would be awesome if I could collect those. especially ancient ones, like shub-niggurath! gran_risa.gif

I've actually bought HorrorClix just to get the Lovecraftian figures (we use a Limited Edition R'lyeh Guardian for our first player marker but buying the packs has never pulled the figs I wanted), and occasionally think about pulling out my old Dreamblade figs to try and find some that could stand in for monsters then I'd redo the based with the monster stats. I would have actually done this, if we had investigator minis.

I would buy replacement cardboard monster chits long before I bought investigator minis. After all, I have a bunch of homemade characters and they would be less interesting without the minis.

I would also buy replacement monsters with great pleasure :-)

And I still love the idea of putting two Dholes in my monsters cup (not that I ever managed to beat ONE Dhole, but that's a different story)

I would have started buying these painted mini if they had come out.
Something bigger than a 2 pack would have been nice.

I brought this up before, but I'll say it again. So, FFG is a company, right? Say they spend $2,000 on minuature development (a number that I've picked out of thin air for no real reason, but the exact amount is beside the point), and they make some minis. Great.

But whether or not they get a $2,000 return on their investment is beside the point in my eyes. I like FFG products, so I hope they would. However, since the minis really wouldn't add much to the game, I would much rather they spent their $2,000 on developing a new game that I can play w/ my friends, and maybe it will be just as much fun as Arkham Horror, or even better!

Black Cat Bases, eM4, RAFM, Artizen Design, Copplestone Castings, Pulp Figures, Strange Aeons, Milrolton, etc. etc. etc. All for around £1-3 per figure.

Here is a great list of usable figures.

If you REALLY want miniatures that badly, try Eureka Miniatures:

http://www.eurekamin.com.au/custom.php

Probably there are other custom mini outfits around too. You could try one of those if you dont like Eureka's style.

Manage to enough interest to make it worth their while, and you'll have your arkham miniatures.

I am someone who is not artistically talented. I have no great skill in painting minis, let alone trying to make my own. And I would have gladly paid the $13 a month for these figures. Granted, I would have liked if they came with something extra (alternate personal stories comes first to my mind) but just having pre-painted AH minis for me would be worth it.

Comparing AH minis to HeroClix, though, is a mistake. At its best, FFG might make 5000 copies of each mini and I'd be wiling to bet it would be closer to 2000 copies. The last HeroClix expansion had 8000+ cases at 20 booster packs each with 5 figures per booster. You're looking at 800,000 figures there. At those production numbers, the cost per figure drops significantly. There is no way FFG could produce minis for any of their games on the same scale as HeroClix, so the cost to manufacture is much higher.

And even though I have all current Arkham sets, and will pick up Lurker the first day its available, I would pay between $400-$600 for a COMPLETE, limited edition collector's set of Arkham. And I know people who would gladly buy an Arkham Big Box epic box packaging, with all expansions for $200+. I personally combined all my Descent games into the other boxes so I could store all of Arkham in my Descent box so I didn'y have to keep lugging out all the boxes when we wanted to play.

But I'm not sure if any of this conversation is going to get us our minis anyway.

Honestly, are the cardboard stand ups really so bad that you really want to slowly replace them over the course of 2 years? That is just going to make the remaining stand ups look even more outdated when combined on a board with minis. I got out of warhammer minis because with each edition I felt my army needed to be updated to the new models. After replacing all the minis for the new edition, I felt bummed that all the old minis I built and painted were now wasted or used as stand-ins for proxy units.

And before I get any xbox fan boy hate (not that I expect that in a board game forum), I got a PS3 for the Blu ray. The games and the system for playing them are just bonus for me. So I won't get into the debate over which system has better games and such.

I think you miss the real reason behind these miniatures. Your PS3 example might not make sense to me because I don't like console games and I don't watch movies. I love PC games and I don't have time to play what I already have so having a Console Game is just a waste of space. However, I understand exactly where you coming from. I truely understand your wonder but these miniatures are more of a "collector's" thing than anything else. They are not required for you to be able to play the game.

If you think everything should has a meaningful reason then we wouldn't decorate our houses with paintings and antiques? or repaint our houses? or buy different colors/styles of shoes/clothes. The paintings and antiques I have at home cost a lot but I love every piece I have. They serve no purpose other than look beautiful and that is exactly why I would buy the Miniatures for Arkham Horror Board Game because it would make my gaming experience this much better.

hay, if they made a minitiare for all monsters, I could buy them according to my monster cup, and put the figure on the board when they come outhappy.gif And if they made investigator figures, I would use them over the cardboard and plastic stands. if only they made them.....preocupado.gif
