The missed opportunity that is the exclusive Vader mini

Also, Vader + IRG + Snows w. grenades, flames, droid = a ball of death with no hard counters. The IRG pull wounds off Vader. The Snows heal the IRG. Snows melt corp units. IRG melt heroes. Vader slices and dices either. Get this ball in your enemy's face smartly (don't march it for two turns of unopposed shots with no cover) and watch half their army disappear in a round.

Except in order for all of that to work, aside from the smart play that you already stated, you need to concentrate the bulk of your force in one area. Depending on objectives that's not a great idea, and depending on deployment it's a nigh impossible list to run. Disarray is a hard counter to small elite lists as it forces you to either give up most of the board or spread yourself thin on a list type that can't have that happen. Battle lines isn't favorable either.

The list is also incredibly short ranged which is a problem in itself. Max fleet troopers aren't seen for the exact same reason as this list despite being cheaper and a better overall threat range (flamethrowers are range 1). Speaking of fleet troopers, a max fleet trooper list will give that list a run for it's money at the ranges we're dealing with as is.

Sounds like a TTS date!

I don't disagree with your observations BTW, but they are far from insurmountable. I've run this and had fun and won. It does take a plan that works the objectives understanding that your are concentrating your forces. If you are used to super high activation spread out lists that type of play won't work.

It also takes smart objective card selection - sure if you can force Dissaray I'm going to have a bad day.

I also fill this out with long range options (if it was not clear it's Vader + 1 Snow + 1 IRG, supported by others). DLTs, Snipers and E-Webs in various ratios have worked pretty okay (last time I ran 3 DLT, 2 EWeb, 1 sniper I think?).

Is it the most optimal "Spike" list? Nope and I never claimed it was... Is it a super jank and big impact Jenny+Timmy joy list? Oh yeah!

Basically you're in that zone of play style anyways if you're playing Vader, and I offered this as an example of how Vader's not 'bad' ... maybe not the most flexible unit that can find a home in every list, but fun and fine in the right list, setting and play style.

No. Get the **** off of me.

The real missed opportunity is that Vader is not riding a Dewback.

Too bad my internet is pretty bad. I'm moving in the fall so maybe then, but I'm pretty sure Derrault is first in line.
