*Sithpost* Fanatical Alt Art

By Hoarder of Garlic Bread, in X-Wing

I'm thinking of commissioning an alt art for Fanatical. I can't decide between this:

or this:

Thoughts? Bonus points for satirical and dry Canadian humor.

Is this going to be an online order commission? Or only for folks in your area?

Because if you do something like the first image, I’m totally down for a couple copies. I don’t get the Manchester humor, but I’m big enough to take a laugh at my own expense.

I don't get the second image, but the first will probably always be relevant. We get a bit weird in the States. Especially in July :P

Manchester United is a major soccer team (football to those outside of the US) in the UK. Sport's fans can be some of the most fanatical people on the planet. They could have put up a Steelers, Ravens or Raiders banner and it'd still have been accurate. :)

Being American, I can't fully appreciate the Manchester dedication... That being said, from what I do know, Manchester probably beats out national fanaticism.

It was just going to be a few copies for my playgroup of Through the Ages (we play X-Wing as well). When we first came across the "Team Sports" building card, we (all Americans who also laugh at the fanaticism of the culture of sports in the USA and similar instances overseas such as Manchester United) had a laughing fit. Not only did the coliseum portrayed remind us of a certain controversial and iconic Olympic year of last century but its stats are insane. It effectively is its own religion, as each worker on it (albeit a level worth 5 ore) gives you 3 happiness --the equivalent of 1 Age A's religious worker and 1 Age I's religious worker's combined effect for placating the masses. Your population's increased seeing your culture as having "Divine Right" or even as a thing to be worshiped is also buffed into military. Each worker earns you 2 military strength: the equivalent of an Age I Infantryman. So hilarrious is this theming that may or may not be unintentional is that if an arms race occurs during a game (in the buildup before Age 3's powerful Wars Over Culture [whose art is that of the Vietnam War]) there is a significant investment in sports before any actual real buildup in military (the strat also works well for Colonization).

I think I would probably go with an image a bit more like this:

This is actually the correct way to hang toilet paper if you have a curious toddler or mischievous cat. Other than that, this would indeed be heretical.

Ah, the Fourth of July! Celebrating the day a couple hundred years ago when our forefathers decided to get drunk and set off explosives all night long. This so irritated and frightened the British that they said, "You colonials are too rowdy and dangerous! How about we give you a few years to grow up, and we'll check back in around 1812?"

I am laughing at myself now because when I read the first line I already felt my blood pressure begin to rise, but your qualifying statement redeemed you. I hate this orientation for the roll, but it sure beats having the whole thing unraveled on the bathroom floor. I'm glad I'm done with that stage of life.
