Reintroducing the droid revolutionaries from "Debts to Pay"

By Dodd81, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Our group just played “Debts to Pay”, the adventure included in the Game Master’s Kit.

It says in the book that the revolutionary droids EV-8D3 and R2-B7 could become recurring threats for the PCs. I thought this was a fun idea and so took the opportunity for the two droids to escape a firefight at the end of the adventure.

Did any of you keep these droids as recurring threats and if so, how did you bring them back in future games? Did you include them in a home-brew adventure or did you weave them into a pre-written adventure somehow.

Thanks.

In my group they tried to convince the R2 Unit to join, and were all nice and chummy. Then they totally bought the idea that "Pirates" were in the mines and told EV-8d3 to stay and guard their back, and even gave them some weapons. Nice double cross when they found the miners and then up-armored a mine cart to take out the Droids A-team style. Truly one of the favorite adventures I ran with my group.

Both Droids escaped in the Cargo hauler. all while spouting Droid themed Marxist quotes.

They have been minor comedic villains that appear, taking control of droids and sending them out to wreck havok. So far they are only in the background. But pretty much any time there are Malfunctioning droids trying to start a Revolution, they are involved. They have yet to face them since the first adventure.

I adapted the mission to my campaign, so the players had to collect the money on site as their crime boss won the mine in a card game. They believed that the mine was attacked by pirates until it was too late. As soon as they found the money, they changed the plan to keeping the money (and the rented ship) and get away from their boss... aaand from that point they somehow did not pay as much attention as they should have :)

To keep it short, they freed the workers and helped in securing the mine. The three main droids (including the medical droid) escaped with the cargo hauler as the players secured their own ship better than the hauler. Nevertheless the medical droid had enough time to rig the life support system with anesthetics (the mechanic found him near the consoles but he did just kick him out). During their escape, the droids were contacted by pirates nearby and exchanged their free passage with the location to a medium freighter with a stunned crew.

The droids for sure will return as one of the PC droids also want to free all droids, but I didn't managed yet.
