An exclusive model, with improved stats, that could only be gotten at a particular event, would be awful. Scalpels would buy bunches at the event and it would be on eBay for ridiculous prices, and players who either had the time or the money, or both, to get it would have a huge unfair advantage.

I didn't think about that, and I agree with you on the ship card part. However, I still think that having a giant home one model would peak interest in armada from outside the fan base. The eclipse would definitely do that, especially since it is supposed to have a lot less firepower than an executor not counting the superlaser. That does explain the lack of truly ludicrous dice counts.

Except that what Xwing and Legion are getting is an alt model with alt art, but same stats. So you can use your regular models just fine still.

My issue is if they start doing event exclusive models with 'different' stats.

Despite their many stumbles in the past few years since the AsmodeeNA merger, I'm perfectly confident saying that FFG will never do such a thing.

They are not WizKids, afterall.

Knowing FFG, it would be an alternate paint job ISD. It would sell amazing and the forums would have multiple players saying how they now have bought their 6th+ ISD.

I forget who, but some company had a con exclusive model/figure/unit that you could also order off their website for the duration of the con. Once the con ended it was taken off the site.

ttcombat does that, i think they do rotate them out after a year or two though. prodos may as well, or at least things that were once con exclusive are now on their site.

Perfect timing considering they just released their larger sector fleets format!

Honestly instead of handing a new limited painted ship, I would very happy if they handed out revised cards for the game.
