Leia + Two T-47's

By er36, in Army Building

Because I apparently want to play X-Wing while I play Legion and these are good against snipers. With the new speeder rules, I think they got a whole lot better.

I flew this kind of thing a lot before I started using more competitive lists and two with HQ uplink is the best build I have found for the T-47. The trick is to know where and when to activate the speeders. They are very fragile so you need to hit flanks where you aren't going to take much return fire and activate late in the turns where you aren't in range and early in turns where you are. Fly them together so when you hit a flank things die, a single one doesn't have much damage output.

Don't expect the troopers to do very much work without a heavy weapon, use the sniper teams to pick off the one or two guys from a squad that mostly die to the speeder's attack.

As for deployment I would actively caution against long march. The speeders will hit the opponent's forces before the rest of your army and because they can't flank easily on the skinny board the enemy will be able to focus them down.

I'd play it. Your Airspeeders are roughly 90% of your actual murdering ability so if you lose one before the 5th or 6th turn you might as well just call it. You'll have to play conservative/defensively with them, but you also have to be attacking every turn to actually kill enough stuff to keep your enemy from overrunning you. Your 6 Rebel Troopers will ensure you can contest objectives like a boss, though. You should basically only move, dodge, or repair/break/claim with them, since they don't hit very hard anyway. If they're dug in on a Key Position or something and already have a Dodge from Leia you could take a potshot, I guess. It'll be rough going and the list isn't super competitive, but it could be pretty fun.

It might be worth a try with Han. 'Sorry about the Mess' and an uplink gives a speeder an almost certain first activation while 'Reckless Diversion' keeps your speeders alive as long as your sacrificial trooper unit still lives. Plus Han can cause some trouble to regular units and bikes.

But then you lose the bombardment 30 points of troops and troop buffing abilities so it's probably no better or worse.

This might work. You are only down 1 activation from the Leia list. Don't know where the last 18 points are best used.

@Qark offers some very good advice on how to fly the T-47s. Thanks for sharing it. I flew them for the first time last Friday and limited experience with them jibes exactly with what you're saying.

What do folks think about including Pathfinders and Jyn in a list like this? The idea being that you can deploy them in the flight path of the T-47s to take some heat off of them. It brings you down to 8 activations though. Is there a huge difference between 8 and 9?

Using Han is very interesting.

To repair what? They don't work on repulsor vehicles.

Is the latest RRG from Feb? I'm looking at that one and it says you can repair repulsor vehicles (p. 51).

They do as of the latest RRG, version 1.3.

Well then, I stand corrected.

Ooh nice.

It might be worth trying to add one by ditching a comms jammer, or a Hunter + Scout Report

It's cool, I wasn't quite sure about that myself until I checked a couple of days ago ^_^

Surely with 2 speeders double cover 2 pilots is the way to go?
