I was was thinking of trying something along these lines:

the thinking is: Hera gets in close and personal, using her action to reinforce. If she bumps, then she can still attack, and reduces enemy agility for the others.

kyle sits at the back, trying to pass out focus to the ghost or Ewing, depending on who needs it that turn.

the Ewing is such a solid ship on its own, that I figured I could run it without upgrades. Additionally, he’s pretty survivable, and his double tap becomes a bit of an aggro pull away from the ghost as the main damage dealer.

This wasn't great.

HWK was fine as a support ship, but not super useful, combat wise, and that focus going out only on the arc was a bit awkward. Perhaps drop the Perceptive Co-Pilot?

Ghost did okay, but it's surprisingly fragile for a ship with 14 health, having no defense. I like the zeb/intimidate combo as it's great with a high PS character to remove a bumped ship off quickly before they can retaliate. Downside is being bumped by a swarm with no defense. Double tapping with the ghost is good, but not sure it's better than just having two ships, so maybe less points to invest here, too.

The EWing is just peculiar. I don't quite get what it's up to! The linked actions seem at odds with the ships specials, so this looks like one that I could drop entirely. Definitely struggled running vanilla tbh, even with the excellent stat line.

If you are going to use the Ghost as a bumping platform, I would strongly suggest Advanced Sensors on it. The ability to take a Reinforce action prior to moving can help mitigate some of the incoming damage, and allows you to use the red hard turns more proactively.

Hera seems to run best with Nien Nunb so you have 8 blue maneuvers. And yes the ghost can get into a bad way using zeb. This is my base Hera build.

Flavor after that, but she can get pretty expensive and you know she will blow or get down to half. I am looking to run her with 2 more i5s and a bid. She can be an incredible arc dodger.

Also try using a u wing and tac officer so you can still get the ghost focused, but could TL at r1. Plus u wings are tankier than the hwk. I always put a shield upgrade on them and that helped.

So, I think Zeb is a trap on Hera. I've been flying Oicunn, who gets to attack without retaliation in the same situation so he wants to bump; another friend has been flying Chiraneau - who also wants to bump. His reasoning was that he couldn't survive multiple attacks, so he was trying to avoid one arc, bumping another ship, and then shooting with Hot-shot gunner to strip tokens for Whisper to Juke. Meanwhile, the Deci still gets actions due to the title or a Reinforce from Minister Tua.

Hera with Zeb is relying on finishing a ship before it can shoot back, which takes 2 turns for most ships, so the enemy gets to shoot back at least once, along with the entire rest of the list, vs a non-reinforced VCX if you've bumped.

Meanwhile, the Hwk without the title doesn't do enough damage and Corran wants to flank and dodge arcs, which means he often isn't in position to shoot whilst Hera dies.

In its one outing to date, it worked nicely. Biggs can help keep Hera alive, Blount does more damage than a Z95 should, and AP5 was targetted by the opponent - but Biggs protected it. Hera then cleaned up at the end, using her ability to avoid being shot - sometimes by bumping.
