FFG probably recognizes that buying into an entire new faction or two after playing the game for 6 months is going to be a big ask for some players, as well as prequel IP being seen as a big risk by some, and decided they couldn't afford to hold back on the iconics if they wanted to maximize player conversion.
They don't seem to be holding any big name Seperatists back do they?
They can also use many of the named Clones that were mostly or entirely see as infantry in TCW as crew, perhaps even as pilots.
You know if they hadn't used some of the big names from the prequel era there'd be a forum topic moaning about it too.
We're getting more more ships, more pilots--more toys! That's all I need to keep me happy. Remember when we'd go for streeeeeeetches without any new content? Yeah. I don't miss that.
Personally, I can't wait for the model for Count Dooku's Solar Sailor!!!

I think someone mentioned it would be way too big with the sails out, which is a shame. Still cool with them curled up I suppose.

Huh, I also just had a thought - we'll do doubt get Tarkin for Republic soon. That's cool.
I share your curiosity about how big the faction can grow, but they do have some space.
Asaj, Jango, Savage opress, the Droid General dudes, spider-monocle-cowboy, etc, all from Clone wars would fill it out quick considering thry only need 2 to 6 named pilots a wave.
in terms of ships, Mankvim fighters are cool and the techno union have some large ships. then there are dozens of seperatist worlds with their own fleets.
The question is more will FFG continue its greedy business practice of selling product they dont intend to support, like Epic ships

Ahsoka did fly a y-wing. Drawing a blank on the battle, but she flew a y-wing and lost most of her squadron. Later on, she came up with a new plan where the Venator would come in with it's belly to the Seps and her bomber squadron would fly out under cover and hit the seps capital ships. Anakin had already crashed his Venator into the separtists and was in an escape pod.
edit: after a brief google search, it's the battle over Ryloth.
Edited by ravehnhuhrxtI've been re-watching The Clone Wars since Waves III and IV were announced, and I'm realizing a few things about how it will all tie into X-Wing:
1) First, a question - how many Separatist biggies were there to draw from, really? Most of the Separatists showed up on big frigates or droid control ships, which aren't scaled for X-Wing, but might have a home in Armada or Epic when we eventually - and we will eventually, @Vontoothskie - get Epic for 2.0 - it's just a matter of when. FFG was very clear that we wouldn't see Epic support in 2.0 for at least a year when 2.0 was released. As I'm watching through, I haven't seen a lot of X-Wing scale ships for the Separatists, since they relied on droid ships. However, I can see a bunch of variant Vultures, like TIEs, eventually making their way into the game - we already have one in the Hyena-class platform from Wave IV. There's nothing to say that we must have a bunch of named characters with ships flying around the board, especially when there weren't that many to begin with.
2) An observation - A fair portion of the stuff that FFG drew on for Scum in 1.0 actually comes from canonized Clone-Wars era media, which I didn't realize until my first watch-through. The YV-666 actually appeared in a later season (I forget which), for example, with the entire Obi-Wan goes Scum arc. Moralo Eval and Latts Razzi both appeared in Clone Wars, and Cad Bane made his first appearance there.
There is a significant amount of rich content to draw from, when you think about it.
