Tug Life revisited

By Waldorf28, in X-Wing Squad Lists

After the Tug's point nerf I was pretty despondent that my beloved and reasonably successful Tug Life list was no longer viable. I juggled ships and played around with a few variants but nothing equalled the sheer exhilaration of a three Tug list.

Then it hit me. Why struggle to fit three in when you can fit four? Augmented by a new version of the Party Bus with highly synchronous 0-0-0 and BT-1. If you get the Calculate you have a second green token for Lando, one you can generate and use even when stressed yourself. If they take the stress then BT-1 punishes them.

I know it's really just a Quadjumper swarm but I think they're still a bargain at 32 points and multiple Tugs really do act as a force multiplier. Flown right you can tractor your own Tugs if needs be to get into key positions to play havoc with your opponent's pesky aces, dropping them on obstacles or putting them in the Slaver's line of fire.

Even if Tugs are not your scene, I think this build of the Slaver is great. Reinforce to soak the hits, then at initiative 1 when you finally fire you have the Lando re-roll. If you get the Calculate token to use for a defensive re-roll, even better. If you don't, chances are you're punching harder with BT-1. I think it rocks and the new gunner slot is what makes it possible.

1 point bid for those initiative 1 showdowns :).

Hi,

what do you think the formation should be when deploying the squad and what do you think and how should someone play this list against an aces build who flank you OR a swarm list with a decimator who are slowly coming but when they come they hit hard.

How would you fly this list in general.

Thank you!

Obviously how you fly it depends on what you're facing, but I tend to put the Tugs either in a V formation with the Slaver in the middle or broken down into two clusters with one always behind the other for cheeky Tractor boosts if necessary to get into position.

I tend to fly at max speed with the Tugs on the first turn then reverse on the second. If they are fast aces coming at you you can usually then execute a blue to clear the stress and land the Tractor action on the third.

Slaver I tend to do something similar, usually a 1 straight then a stop. By the time the Slaver moves on Turn 3 the Tugs have usually Tractored at least one juicy target.
