Drea's Middle Finger

By HealOverTime, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm looking for a go-to competitive list and apparently Drea with VTG friends is hot right now so I'm giving it whirl. I am limited to two Scurrgs and two Y-Wings due to my collection but am still interested in your suggestions.

Scurrg H-6 bomber - Lok Revenant - 51
Lok Revenant - (43)
Dorsal Turret (2)
Veteran Turret Gunner (6)

I am trying to make Drea an unappetising target with Dengar and elusive, while the R2 can regen without an action (Drea being disarmed is not so important as long as she is pointing her finger guns at someone).

For options, I think I could move points around to add 3x ion cannon turrets for 6 more points or give the hired gun squad leader for 6 points, do you think that dropping Dengar would be a good trade for either of these?

This build is very similar to one I've been looking at, as I also have two Scurrgs.

Another option you could look at would be to swap the dorsal and gunner for a proton torp on the hired gun.

The turret and gunner may actually be the better option, but the potential for two torp shots would certainly draw some attention.

Dorsal + Vet Turret Gunner is 8 points. Proton Torps is 12 points. It wouldn't fit.

My bad on that. You could still make the swap, but you'd lose some upgrades on Drea. Keeping the turret on the hired gun is probably the better option.

I think 2 Loks and a goon, both with ICT/VTG, and Drea with dorsal and whatever else for 9 points, is gonna be the most reliable option. You want as many dice as possible, because your ships can melt with only 1 AG

Drop Dengar and R2 Astromech

Upgrade the goon to a hired gun so all your frontliners match initiative, upgrade his dorsal to a ion cannon turret, and give him a shield upgrade.

Add a shield upgrade to Drea

Fly with the Scurrgs in dead center, the Y somewhat to the side but keeping up with the scurrgs, and Drea behind the Scurrgs.

If you try to fly with the Y in the middle between the scurrgs you make drea vulnerable bc the Y is a smaller base and it is easier to kill.

Drea is a big part of this list, you will not be able to make her an unappetizing target, I suppose a tankier idea would be debris gambit and just evade every turn.

You would be surprised how useful it is to have Drea shoot to try and strip a token before the rest of your list.

Love the premise of R2 on Drea. I feel like regen droids could be nice on her.

I'd certainly cut Elusive for an ICT on the Y-Wing. I just don't think Elusive is likely to go very far on a 1 agility ship which doesn't love taking red moves. Meanwhile, getting at least one ion seems nice. Goon seems like the right ship, if only bringing one. That way, each of the VTG ships has at least one 3 dice weapon.

As to cutting Dengar to give everyone else Ion Cannon Turrets, that's probably where I'd go. However, you had an impulse to try out Dengar, so run with it. I think it's a cool choice I haven't seen other folks discuss. 100% seems worth a try.

I don't really think Squad Leader would be worth it here. No one is really action hungry, and red actions are kind of awkward on Y-Wings. Doesn't seem worth the points.

Hi @all,

my approach to this list was and I used it for one match perfectly without taking serious loss, only happened to lose 2 shields in total from all of the ships (in total my score for the evening was 1-1). The guys with his two X wings and the Bomber was BIG EYES when I took out his X wing during second maneuvering. 2 scurgs and Y wing did the job perfectly. Only problem was in the mid fight, and during the end that the ships had a hard time turning around, only Loks were able to maneuver better. So during mid fight, his bomber was harassed again by my 3 ships, he could not move coz of ICT. And in the end I harassed down the last X wing who tried to escape, unfortunately no luck for my opponent. Went 200-0 WIN.

Second match which i hoped I will do pretty good was a huge disaster:

Played against 4 TIEs and 1 decimator ( the one who gives stress if you defeat the a friendly ship). Because I did not know where to put my ships, i started more into middle, but when I saw that he is going from one corner, I said to myself, lets try to flank them (RIGHT like Y wings can flank anyone haha). Anyway, i was trying to approach from the left side of my board view, while he was going quickly towards my ships, and got in range after the 3rd maneuvering, I therefore was a bit confused and turned nose straight to the TIEs, (flashback: because I tried to flank him i had issues moving and therefore all my moving went up bumping more often and somehow DREA went in front of all the ships :( ). When I have had the TIEs in range I have shot one down, but my Drea was lost during first engagement after that, no re-rolls, not more easy winnings.

Here is my list:

BTL-A4 Y-wing - •Drea Renthal - 52
•Drea Renthal - Pirate Lord (42)
Ion Cannon Turret (4)
Veteran Turret Gunner (6)

Scurrg H-6 bomber - Lok Revenant - 53
Lok Revenant - (43)
Ion Cannon Turret (4)
Veteran Turret Gunner (6)

Scurrg H-6 bomber - Lok Revenant - 53
Lok Revenant - (43)
Ion Cannon Turret (4)
Veteran Turret Gunner (6)

BTL-A4 Y-wing - Crymorah Goon - 41
Crymorah Goon - (31)
Ion Cannon Turret (4)
Veteran Turret Gunner (6)

Total: 199/200

Now with this list I wanted achieve the following:

As many red dice as possible with re-rolls is brutal, count that: 2x Loks shoot 12 dice in total every turn a Lok can put out in worst case scenario at least two damage (considering that only one normal attack is a hit and from ICT you get almost all the time one dmg and plus some IONs) then Y wings can shoot 10 dice in total, If range one well then its unfortunate for the opponent...

Please have a look and any ideas are welcome.

That was their crew upgrade Admiral Sloan. Next time you go up against someone with that upgrade either focus fire on the crew carrier that has her on it or only kill ships that are outside of range 3 of the ship she's equipped to. Also try not to stress your ships if they are going to be able to be shot at by one of your opponent's ships who are in range 0-3 of her.
