[BLOG] Just Jedi Things - Exponential Coordination

By unfassbarnathan, in X-Wing

Nice article, and I like how you used logic to shoot down your own combo. ;) However, you didn’t go far enough down the rabbit hole. I think this combo starts to shine when you take into consideration the boost and barrel roll actions, and it will be amazing if the points work out such that you can fit a pilot with a higher initiative like Anakon. All of a sudden that all three of your ships double repositioning at I6. :D

Anakin could coordinate them but they could only coordinate each other. Battle Meditation excludes limited pilots and would eat the knights' only force charge to use so double reposition for all three is out.

For the points you would be spending on battle meditation I don't know if it will be worth it? Especially as I don't think it is as effective as you think, have a look at this:

If ship 1 gives 2 and 3 a focus

Ship 2 gives 1 and 3 a target lock

What should ship 3 give?

Currently Ship 1 has a Target lock, Ship 2 has a focus and ship 3 has a Target lock and focus.

Ignore me I'm stupid.

Ship 1 gives 2 and 3 a coordinate. 2 gives 1 and 3 a focus, 3 gives 1 and 2 a lock. Makes sense. But the whole thing costs 3 force, so... you'd probably just be better off locking and modding using your force with all of them.

The biggest thing you can do with BM is use a high-init jedi to double coordinate lower init allies, but you can *guarantee* that BM is going to cost a fortune. It'll almost certainly be more than Squad Leader, given that it's probably more than twice as good.

Indeed, I'd be pretty surprised if you could actually afford three generic Jedi with this upgrade.

Oh dang it you’re right. That’s what I get for not re-reading the cards before I post.

Yeah, Battle Meditation rings of Ferrosphere Paint...

Costed for use on one or two ships, but cost-prohibitive at three or more.

I've accepted that the costing of Paint is by design...since all my three+ squads were less than optimal pilots and initiatives.

For niche cards like Paint, the cost is actually part of the design: "This is a special upgrade that's not seen on many pilots, and is very helpful once or twice a game for one guy."

I'm getting the vibes that Battle Meditation is that kind of niche card for the Jedi.

6+ points.

I'd be shocked if it's not variable by init and at least half as much again on top of the cost of Squad Leader.
