Hyperspace - 5 Tie/sf

By PumpkinKutter, in X-Wing Squad Lists

What do you think about the viability of this in hyperspace? It has a lot of health and should be fairly consistent damage. There will also not be be much need to perform red maneuvers.

Tie/sf Zeta Squadron Survivor + Advanced Optics (38)

Tie/sf Backdraft + Elusive + Advanced Optics (48)

I am torn between running this and Fat Han + Wedge for an upcoming tournament. I am not going to have much time to practice either list but I have flown more tie fighters previously.

30 health and a fairly high hit rate with optics.

My alternative is Fat Han and Wedge at an even 200

Han Solo (127)

Trick Shot + Lando Calrissian + Leia Organa + Engine Upgrade + Millenium Falcon + Luke Skywalker

Wedge Antilles (73)

R3 Astromech + Proton Torpedoes + Afterburners + S-Foils

It seems fun in my mind flying a big and little ace.

Fly the Ties. It’s cooler.

I think 2 ship lists are not as consistent as they were in 1.0. They can be make to work but it's much harder to be viable now. The exception in my eyes is a boba list because he is sooooo tanky.

There is a guy at our LGS that runs the zetas with just advanced optics and the fact is they are consistent. Your almost always do 2 damage each turn. And the double arcs make it tough for a lot or arc dodgy ships. For this reason, I say run the ties

Anyway, I've been messing around with a 5 SF list, but a different variation. I so far have tried Backdraft w/ Fanatical & Hull Upgrade and 4 Omega Experts w/ Fanatical. Few things my version provides.

- A small bump in initiative to help against the 5 rebel beef squads and triple upsilon which both of those are mainly i2

- Fanatical helps give passive offense so that once shields are down, the SFs can start evading instead which extends their table time by a solid amount instead of focusing all the time.

Granted my version doesn't have offensive blank mitigation like yours does with adv optics, BUT adv optics requires you to have a focus to have anyway which means any time you had to spend it on defense, you offense dips A LOT. Fanatical at least in the first two turns can allow me to spend my focus defensively and still have an offensive mod if they took down my shields on a ship.

I've been thinking about the Advanced Optics SFs. A large part of that is that the generic Resistance A-Wings seem pretty cool, but I don't have nearly as many of those as I have SFs, and they'll have a similar style of being able to fly past something and keep consistent dice coming in.

I feel like there's a few ways to build them. Zetas obviously work. There's a bunch of options for filling in Backdraft. Elusive seems odd to me, since you probably don't need to take too many red moves. Fire Control System + AdvO would leave room for a 1-point talent like Crack Shot. I also am fascinated by the thought Trick Shot, with either AdvO or Pattern Analyzer. Fly a 4 pack of the Zetas, and a separate Backdraft. BD ideally flies to engage by pulling a Segnor's Loop in front of the largest obstcale you can bring for instant 3 dice (4 if obstructed) attacks.

There's also a thought to fly 5x Zetas, and put Hotshot Gunner on one of them. This means that the other 4 are pretty much guaranteed to have a no-token target to shoot at, and that'll help with consistent 2-dice attacks.

Omegas are awkward, in that there's only 4 pilot cards in the conversion kit. 5 tiles, 4 cards. Go figure. However, having a bunch of Init 3s might be good for shooting ahead of an Upsilon shuttle. 5x with just Optics will fit, if you can borrow a ship card. I don't know whether having all Init 3s is better than having Backdraft. No doubt, there'd be matches which go either way.

4x Omega + a TIE/FO would also fit, probably with a few cheap talents on the Omegas. Again, Trick Shot kind of interests me the most. Ideally, Optics SFs will be leveraging their rear arcs, and any time you get beyond a single forward arc, Trick Shot rises in value. For an FO filler, TN-3465 seems really good. Advanced Optics will make your red dice pretty consistent, but TN getting into range 1 means that less than 2 hits is essentially impossible.

Do the TIEs. Fat Han and Wedge is gonna take practice to fly well as one wrong move ends you game pretty much. Just do fanatical on BD though. He will be your opponents #1 option so fanatical should trigger every game.

Ive been flying multple PS1 Awings with just adv optics and love em. No problems taking down bigger fish. Get a block, and with 8 other arcs, you should be able to position your ships for multple shots on target.

Thanks for the great feedback! Lots to think over. I like the idea of the init 3 ties.

Wanna hear something cooler, take all the Unique Pilots, you will get still 4 - 5 ships and even you can try squeezing in a vader or anything else, You will then have ships with initiative from 2 to 6. Well good luck for opponent to beat this list. Only one guys in our hyperspace legal tournament out of 6 people who was playing with resistance won 2nd. 1st and 3rd was TIE swarm builds. OP as **** those ties in hyperspace.
