Discussing Special Cards in Age of Ascension

By Dantastic24, in KeyForge

Curious what everyone is thinking will happen in regards to special cards in Age of Ascension?

My personal opinion is that we will not see Horsemen, Masters or Help From Future Self in Ascension. I think we will see 2 more "special cards" and I believe we have seen one set of accompanying cards to a special card. I think that the Grumpus cards may very well end up being together with a "special" card similar to Horsemen.

It is also possible that the cards, Richard Garfield mentioned in the cast, that buff all the creatures in your battle line to the left and to the right (two different cards in Untaimed) could be a "special card" set as well.

Any thoughts or other ideas about special cards?

Also, does anyone think it will be possible to get previous set special cards in Ascension as "legacy special cards"?!!!! That would be super cool!

Would love some open discussion about everyone's thoughts.

That would actually be something interesting to see. So instead of a Maverick of a card from another house, you could get a Maverick of a card from an older set.

Has anyone ever analyzed the patterns of mavericks yet? There does seem to be some instances where certain cards can never be maverick (like have horsemen ever appeared in another house?).

Likewise I'm curious if some cards will be locked out of being legacy - or will time traveler and his help come together in a AoA deck?

I do figure Grumpus Trainer and War Grumpus will work like Faygin & Urchins though. I'd bet the Grumpus might appear a few times alone, but the Trainer will always come with 1 or 2 along with him.

Hopefully.

I never have checked if anybody got a troop call without any Niffles.

You can use the search in Keyforge compendium to find the cards that can't be Maverick-ed. It seems you can only have 1 Maverick per house, so the cards on the list are mainly the cards that would require more Mavericks to function properly, like the horseman.

I expect legacy to work the same. I also expect library access to be locked out, as it caused to many complaints.

I don't think any card that has been referenced is special rarity, as those are their most anticipated cards

Can you? Every time I've looked at the search I've not seen a "= 0" option for any cards, it always requires a 1 or greater amount (which is fair, SQL programming to check if something doesn't exist is trickier than if it does)

Also while there is no deck with 4+ mavericks, this one:

Does have 2 mavericks in Logos.

In advanced search, click show Maverick cards, and the click the card list drop down. Anything not listed there has yet to be found.

Not only that, it has another Maverick into Brobnar in the same deck. That seems like a fairly rare scenario.
