A new battlepack proposal

By Boze, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Hey folks, hats off to the fast growing Warhammer Invasion community. Very informative for newbies to card games such as myself and love the enthusiasm.

I am definitely an avid Warhammer Invasion player and some day when I grow up (25 going on 5 lol) I would like the idea of competing in a local tournament should it happen.

Alas, I feel like unless I buy 3x core set, and each corruption cycle 3x I won't be competitive. (That's near another $200!) and I know this is supposed to be overall cheaper then other CCGs but am I the only one who is not going to be able to afford that? It does sadden me I have to admit especially when I am such a big fan, I'd rather spend the $200 on other FFG games since I do have more FFG in my collection then anything else! (Woo talisman!)

Anyhoo, I had an idea to try and stir things up. According to my card inventory @ deckbox.org I have approximately 120 1x cards. I have bought 1x every current battlepack, core set and assault on ulthuan. Now my idea.

What are your thoughts on FFG releasing battlepacks specifically for people who buy 1 of everything (i got a hunch there are a fair amount of people who do that). This way we can essentially have 3x every card without having to buy 3x of everything and can spend that money towards other FFG products ya know?

I don't think it is such a crazy idea and perhaps if we had enough people interested in it, this could get FFG's attention.

So, whats your thoughts?

I thought it would be nice if they released completion sets for cycles and boxed sets in order to get up to triples of each card even if it would be online only. honestly if it wasn't for the format change coming up I think I would be calling it quits since most of the cards I like in the battlepacks seem to come as 1x copies. For me, having extra copies of cards is important so I can ensure I can play my favorites most games. The fact that I feel like I can only reliably play half of my cards right now has become quite annoying as my card pool has grown. I have seriously thought about ordering the other copies but i don't have enough other opponents currently to make it worth while...and I wouldn't want to be the one competitive player in the group.

I doubt you will get very much sympathy or support for this idea though as most players here seem to play 2x or 3x copies of battlepacks. For a format that is supposed to take out collectability from the card game I currently feel really limited only playing 1x copy of the battle packs. I can't wait for the next cycle of battle packs and the new format so i feel like I have more viable deck building options.

My thoughts are that they are doing exactly that with this next cycle per their big announcement about the upcoming LCG changes! ;)

So your prayers have been answered. Going forward new Battlepacks will have 3x of everything in them. :)

Bless your heart Whytefang you're good people :D ! I totally hear where you are coming from, and lets hope with all the future battlepacks coming out that it make all the 1x cards per battle packs be a very small percentage in the grand scheme of things.

Still, at the rate of 1 battlepack per month, it will literally take years before that day happens... So I digress and go back to my original point! C'mon FFG! I know I am not the only one!

I'm contemplating purchasing two copies of the Core Set and each expansion that include a single copy of any unique card. So I'll put myself into a position where I can have two copies of those cards.

I wish FFG would make single cards available for purchase from their webstore.

As has already been said, there's only one more battlepack due that won't have 3x all 20 cards, which is great news (even for me that does buy 3 of everything)

For all those 1x cards you've got, there's options, especially with the Core Set. Find some people to trade with, either local players or through the forums (I'm actually a little surprised there's no trading forum or thread already) - I bought two of the Core set, and traded some of the 1x cards that I didn't want for 3rd copies of the ones I did with some local players.

Ultimately, as a CCG player as well as an LCG, the cost of buying 3x BPs is so much smaller than buying booster boxes of random cards, I'd have been quite happy if FFG had continued selling them the way they are :)

They wouldn't be able to do that due to printing processes etc - they will never see single cards, only the finished Battle Packs, and I can't imagine anyone would want to split the BPs down to get the individual cards out of it - at least not without them costs as much as the BP itself after you factor in time, wages, storage etc.
