Worlds shows it as referring to the Mafia, 14K, and the Yakuza collectively. However, in SotB it's used to speak specifically of the Italian/Sicilian, Russian, and Balkan crime families uniting under a single leadership...except that the "Tri-Maf Contacts" talents allows you to specify the orgcrime outfit that it applies to.
So, which is it?
[Lore Clarification] What is the Tri-Maf?
Can you give some page numbers where the books talk about it? I'll take a look also.
Worlds of Android page 248 refers to the "Triad-Mafia" syndicates before the orgcrime summaries. Then on page 272, it specifies Tri-Maf as a loose collective of the Mafia, 14K, and Yakuza.

In SotB, on pages 64 and 65. Both "Major Players" and "Interacting With OrgCrime Outfits" refer to the Yakuza, Tri-Maf, 14K, and Los Scorpiones as independant orgcrime outfits.
The gist is that the Yakuza are still the Yakuza. The Tri-Maf are the Italian, Russian, and Balkan Mafias combined. 14K came together out of the Chinese Triads. Los Scorpiones assembled out of the Central and South American drug cartels.

The talent's name is simply an evocative designation. You may select either the Yakuza, Tri-Maf, 14K, or Los Scorpiones with "Tri-Maf Contact".
Perhaps it should’ve been named “OrgCrime Contacts” then. 😉
