Cultist Bashing

By player377182, in Chaos in the Old World

Played a game tonight - And an interesting trend started. In the early game everyone started sniping each other's cultusts in battle (assigning hits to these figs instead of the demons).

It was Tzeentch who first did it to Slaanesh and then is kind of caught on, which severely limited corruption counters and dial advancement since most with 1 wound it's easy to wipeout large numbers of them and if reduced to 1 cultist, the non-Khorne powers, can't get enough corruption counted in one round to uptick.

Admitedly we had to stop half way in-- (to be continued)

Has anyone seen this strategy? Does it ultimately work or do the sheer cultists numbers finally win out?

In our games all players target other players cultists if possible as there is really not much point in targeting something else. Well with the exception of Khorne as he really does not care but for other powers killing cultists hurts most.

Killing cultists is usually the most problematic for their owners, simply because of their connection to dial advancement counters and their obvious vulnerability. Killing off warriors and Greater Daemons becomes very important once players start getting these figures "stuck-in". By that I mean, using these figures to contest and dominate regions. Slaanesh, for example, can have very durable warriors and GD, and while expensive at first, should they survive into the next round, when coupled with some inexpensive cards related to dominating a region it can be vital to remove these figures instead of the usual cultists.

I agree that cultists are sort of the default battle targetbut the decision is not to be made mindlesslythere are times when you're better off not allowing your opponents battle troops to just stick around and make their attacks for free the following round.

We target cultists all the time. What better way is there to hurt another god's plans of world domination?
