I just wanna chime in about how sad I am that my wit is going unappreciated here. I made that meme specifically for this thread... 😕

I have to admit, this one's going over my head...

I was trying to be witty with RobertDD's definitive declaration that "almost every player" likes 3D terrain despite having no way of knowing that.

So I asked for a "bluff check please"

39 to pass btw...

I make myself laugh, that's what's important here.

"Bluffs" is that I was missing. Dang. Well done.

Here are some asteroid fields that I just finished. I already like using the space station that I got from Shapeways (Thanks @LinoB !) in my demos and these will add to that. I'll posts the debris fields once I finish them.

@Admiral Calkins those came out amazing! I honestly never thought of adding another level of asteroids to the base itself. It definitely makes them look more imposing! I may be borrowing that idea. Nicely done!

They're from a company in the UK... 100%, go with the idea, but I will offer a word of advice:

After painting up a set of theirs... Do *not* use Plaster/Hydrostone... Urgh. I mean, I get it, the material is relatively cheap and takes detail fairly well... But with the pieces needing to come in and out of each other, as well as plastic stands, and metal frames.... Its Heavy, AND it just... Powders. White Powders... All the time... On your nice solid black painting...

That, and Hydrostone has absolutely NO give to it, so when you get a multi-part assemble Space Station, and the molds have slipped just a *TINY* piece, there is absolutely NO margin for error and you're filling gaps of Eons...

But they look good. Their Debris is "obvious what it is" but much more "cartoon chunky" than the legitimate pieces, so unlike Space Rocks, they're never going to be tapped for re-casting original pieces...

Thanks! The Debris Fields came out pretty good too.

I have to respectfully disagree though with some of the people saying that the 3-D obstacles just get in the way of the game. If you land on them or have to run your maneuver tool through them, it is easy to just pick one up and move it to the side for a turn or two (as noted in the above picture, the flat cardboard obstacles are already place below the 3-D ones). This is really no different than having to remove a large ship from its stand while ramming. Having said that, I only use the 3-D terrain for games at my house or for demos, as they can be a pain to haul around. @Drasnighta is correct in that the Combatzone Scenery is relatively fragile (thus not wanting it to leave home), but haven't had any powder issues after priming it.

I don't normally have to remove a large ship from its stand while ramming, either...

Its not a hard task to accomplish, for sure... It is very easy to pick it up, set it aside, etc, etc, etc.

Its just annoying to do when you're also trying to simultaniously concentrate on your game, play to a reasonable speed, and out-think your opponent.. Its extra steps that are unneccessary...

I don't get to play "casual" games as much any more... Only ever tournament-style, so that is my consideration these days...

Totally concur for tournaments; pretty sure it would tick people off. Those are just for casual games and to get more people into Armada.

It's nice having the option, though - that's for sure.
