I guess some box expansions got canned

At least we get the class as POD expansion, but still leaves a bitter taste.

so farewell, descent?

Better than nothing. I wasn't expecting ANYTHING, so I'm not gonna lament the loss of a boxed expansion that was never suggested to exist. Would have been cool to get some additional heroes, though. Especially the ones missing from 1st Edition. Wouldn't necessarily assume all is lost.

yeah I guess more stuff for the app is coming and at some point a new book and also an old (re-relase of Shadow Rune ) questbook.

I was kinda hoping that the Soul Reaper would include a familiar, but I cannot complain about this, because even getting it is an awesome surprise.

I think physical content will be to fill in gaps, such as these new classes. So I wouldn’t be surprised if other small product releases happened from time to time.

But new campaign content will be limited to the app imo.

People, it’s the first product release in a bazillion years, and you’re NOT happy? 🤨

I’d far rather have this than another small box expansion, the replay value this brings to my existing collection is huge.

Yes, I’d love to see more of course, but let’s be happy for this nice surprising Monday announcement!

Mixed signals on Descent. This seems to not bode well yet it looks like they just reprinted the entire line in their "upcoming" section of the website.

I’ve been looking more closely at the Soul Reaper cards, and I really like this class.

Based on the revealed cards, Spirit Link seems like a must-buy, since your healing is limited by how much death the party dishes out. In smaller encounters, total monster kills may rarely get higher than 6 or 7.

Looking at it again (literally after I typed the above), this class is far stronger in RTL than in standard play- after all, you kill more monsters and their only objective is killing you.

Great News!! Looking forward to this :)

Anyway, now the classes are perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

so we should thank thanos?

I am pretty happy with this, even if it happens to be the last physical expansion. It rounds out the class selection to 7 of each and fills out the remaining 8 hybrid classes.

I'm confused, are we supposed to think that there was an upcoming boxed expansion with ten classes in it? I find that doubtful.

I don't see how this isn't good news. Worst case scenario, we're still getting physical stuff, so I can't complain. And this huge influx of classes is sure to shake up the game quite a bit.

But if we take it a step further, this might be a way to test the waters on how much interest there still is in this game (which, it seems we get a pretty steady influx of new players). Safer to do it with a (much necessary, anyway) pack like this than with a fully fledged plastic expansion.

Honestly, the only reason I'm mad is because I just got caught up on having everything last month. :P

This was a pleasant surprise. 😃

First I didn't get the reason why so many weren't happy about this. Now I see it's just cards.

Nonetheless I'm excited and I'll buy it for sure. The more content the better.

Gives me more time to catch up on painting too!

FFG have a history of giving some of their games a good send off, completing the classes and hybrids does make it seem like this is the end.

I would not be surprised to see a 3rd edition with app support built in from the start.

A 3rd edition that replaces the overlord with, and requires the use of, an app seems highly likely.

I don't see a coop only 3rd edition coming in the near future. The new LotR game seems to have taken the coop adventure game spot at the moment.

(and they reprint almost everything. would make no sense start a 3rd edition)

I think this is great news

I doubt we will see a 3rd edition for a year or two. However, a chunk of the line being on reprint isn't necessarily an indication than a new edition isn't in the pipeline IME with FFG.

You are forgetting that FFG are their own worst enemy, th ey specialise in competing with their own games.

Great News! 🙂 hope for a german version! 🙂
