Second Change - Stunned

By robertpolson, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

A figure is attacked and suffers damage greater than the remaining health. During the attack, the attacker applies surge for stun. The defending player plays second chance command card.

Question: Does the defending figure become stunned?

We played with no stun based on this logic:

1. Attacker applies damage and surge.

2. Defender applies defence if any,

3. Figure is defeated but interrupted with a second change card. No stun.

I see no reason why not to apply stunned condition. Note, that resolving second chance doesn't change the facts, that the defender suffered damage (even if he actually got "healed", because he had 1 hp before the attack) and the attack resolved.

Also note, that you cant "play" 2nd chance during the attack, as it has to be played at the start of the round. As a result it will trigger if you played it, but if you didn't you cant do it until next start of the round phase.

Second Chance only "interrupts" to recover 2 damage during step 7 of the attack when the figure has suffered damage equal to Health. It does not cancel the attack. If the target suffered damage from the attack, after the attack resolves, the condition keyword Stun applies the corresponding condition stunned to the target, if the target is still on the map and can thus receive conditions.

Edit: Also, the figure is not defeated (removed from the map) and then brought back. The defeat condition becomes invalid due to recovering the damage and the defeat due to suffering damage equal to Health never happens. (Which is made even clearer by "would be defeated".)
