A 4ship Rebels idea

By GreenDragoon, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm not up to date on rebel lists, but I put something together that I'd like to have some input on:

BTL-A4 Y-wing - •“Dutch” Vander - 49
•“Dutch” Vander - Gold Leader (39)
Ion Cannon Turret (4)
Veteran Turret Gunner (6)

A/SF-01 B-wing - •Braylen Stramm - 50
•Braylen Stramm - Blade Leader (47)
Selfless (3)
Jamming Beam (0)

UT-60D U-wing - •Cassian Andor - 53
•Cassian Andor - Raised by the Rebellion (47)
Fire-Control System (2)
•Leia Organa (2)
Tactical Officer (2)
Pivot Wing (Open) (0)

T-65 X-wing - •Biggs Darklighter - 48
•Biggs Darklighter - Red Three (48)
Servomotor S-foils (Open) (0)

Total: 200/200

The idea:

  • Biggs does his thing, keeps the rest alive for a bit longer.
  • Dutch spreads locks to Cassian and Biggs. Plus he threatens to ionize flankers, who may end up in a Leia-mediated turnaround of the whole squad.
  • Cassian coordinates whomever, plus opens up the dial of Braylen.
  • And Braylen consistently gets stressed in 2 ways: move behind a ship and intentionally fail the 2k turn (after a coordinated focus), or focus+fail barrel roll into a squadmate.

That ends in 4x3 red dice. Usually, I should get double mods on two (via dutch and braylen) and can spread damage around rather easily.

I would like to have another selfless instead of the FCS, or some more oomph on Dutch.

Dutch could very fairly ditch the VetTurGun, he's not gonna have mods for both anyway.

Though I would put Selfless on Cassian and Dutch, not Braylen. Braylen is surprisingly strong in the end game

According to my knowledge you dont get the stress token if you fail linked red action.

Really? Bummer! You do for failed reds, normally.

Source?

You do for any failed Red Actions... Linked actions are not excluded from this.

It seems to me i got scammed in my last game. Thanks for your clarification.

Ouch.

That was the original rule, in version 1.0 of the rules reference.

It got changed pretty quick (1.02), presumably because folks realised a decent number of combos--not that extreme, but still--with Composure and intentional failures. There were a few easy ones with TIE Interceptors or A-Wings. A-Wing could lock into a fail-boost for focus, or an Interceptor could boost or barrel roll, then fail the other and get a focus for a reposition action and token, but no stress.

I've really enjoyed trick shot Braylen, getting the extra die for attack and defense is great with his mods and I usually just 1 forward onto the debris the following round to keep the stress train rolling.

His biggest issue is not letting the fight fly past him, so you need to have either Leia or Baffle in there for him.

2-3 green dice with his rerolls is so tanky though, people always expect him to take more damage than he does

That's a great idea!

Trickshot to Braylen, move the selfless to Cassian, scrap the FCS

This list (4 ship rebels) won me store cham before point change, after point change I got space to add Leya for total insanity. Also makes your head hurt after game or to trying to combo 4-5 actions from coordinating Jake.

A/SF-01 B-wing - •Braylen Stramm - 47
•Braylen Stramm - Blade Leader (47)

T-65 X-wing - •Wedge Antilles - 66
•Wedge Antilles - Red Two (52)
Trick Shot (2)
Proton Torpedoes (12)
Servomotor S-foils (Open) (0)

UT-60D U-wing - •Cassian Andor - 51
•Cassian Andor - Raised by the Rebellion (47)
Tactical Officer (2)
•Leia Organa (2)
Pivot Wing (Open) (0)

RZ-1 A-wing - •Jake Farrell - 36
•Jake Farrell - Sage Instructor (36)

Isn't a 2nd shot better than none?

Just a way to save points if needed

Oic, just used to seeing Mr. Greeb give alternatives for what the points should be used for :P

Fair point. I'm sure I had something in mind when I first said it...but I can't remember what now. Let me think...

Cassian (Selfless, TacOff, Jyn)

Dutch (Selfless, ICT)

Braylen (SU)

Biggs

This list essentially guarantees that the only non-support ship, your heavy hitter, will make it to the end game. There are lots of mods to go around, and if you start to worry about someone's health, they can always have an evade token.

Have you thought of switching Thane for Biggs? I know that puts more damage on your other ships but for the same point cost late game you'll be able to pop crits which could turn the tide. I'd also drop vet turret gunner and put hull upgrade on Braylen and Dutch or switch to adv proton torps for added extra punch 1 time, but that' just me. B wings are much better in 2nd edition and even more so after points change. And with Cassian there you hit the nail on the head for opening up Braylen's moves. Braylen loves to be stressed for sure, but I have found constantly stressed B-wings are more predictable which hurts if your opponent knows it. My three cents anyways.
