And the thought process behind this love child...

It isn't pretty, but I kinda love it.

I absolutely enjoyed that garm-spiration. You could say that I'm garm-spired. I would have stayed with the unique squadrons and Opening Salvo just because I never get to use them, but everything else here is gold. AAR requested.

This is my favorite type of list building. It's like adopting every stray animal you find on the street because 'someone needs to love them'.

Our last 200pt Task Force Campaign night had 10 people so we were on to the 5th commander for each side and all the good uniques were taken. This is the stuff I play Armada for. The meta is my no fly zone (explains my poor tourney performance, but usually popular presence).

Stay low-brow gentlemen. You made me smile on a Monday.

We were having fun figuring it all out. Glad you liked it.

Nice Dodonna list here

Nah, cause Dodonna can't power up IF! for us while the Pelta still pushes squads around.

This is the ideal Armada list. You may not like it, but this is what peak fleet building looks like.

Bank token turn 1. Maybe Ashoka bank turn 2. Discard for a third use as well....

You could even phoenix home vet cap if you wanted...

And for those 5 points, you could have Garm and actually Nav / Push Squadrons on Turn 1 and 2.

I love it and will run some variation of this dumpster fire at some point, got a tounament coming up soon...

I ran a variation of the list this week as well this is what I ran.

Assault Frigate Mk2 B (72)
• Garm Bel Iblis (25)
• Ahsoka Tano (2)
• Gunnery Team (7)
• Boosted Comms (4)
• Quad Battery Turrets (5)
= 115 Points

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
• Lando Carissian (4)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
• Admonition (8)
= 84 Points

Nebulon-B Support Refit (51)
• Major Derlin (7)
• Dual Turbolaser Turrets (5)
• Salvation (7)
= 70 Points

Pelta Command Ship (60)
• Intensify Firepower! (6)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
= 69 Points

Squadrons:
• 3 x A-wing Squadron (33)
• Z-95 Headhunter Squadron (7)
• Green Squadron (12)
• Y-wing Squadron (10)
= 62 Points

I played against Motti double ISD, long story short I took out a flotilla and one the motti ISD I lost salvation and the pelta, and the Z. Due to bad engagement maneuvers on my part the ISD was able to take out both Salvation and the pelta before they got any shots off. If I played that better I think I could have taken down both ISDs. I ended up losing, but just bearly because of objectives. It was really fun and I think the list can do well. I wanted my fighter wing to have more anti squadron punch, but still have the flexibility to go after ships so this is what I came up with. I am not 100% sure about this loadout, but im excited to play around with this list, and get it to the table agian.

That does sound like a fun game. I think a little stronger Anti-Squad component works well in this fleet too. We went with Y-Wings for the durability primarily.

@shmitty @BiggsIRL

Any particular reason you chose to use an AFB?

For example:

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Comms Net (2)
= 20 Points

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57)
• Garm Bel Iblis (25)
• Spinal Armament (9)
• Yavaris (5)
= 96 Points

Squadrons:
= 0 Points

Total Points: 116

this build it only 1 point more, but it doubles the effectiveness of Garm, and gives you more teeth imo... it also gives you one more activation and that could really change up the game. I also believe that Nebulons are almost as survivable as an AFB because of their redundant braces. Maybe not, but they are still painful to chew through and seem to do very well with shooting and pushing squads

Generally speaking I've found the AF to be more survivable than the Nebulon by a fair amount. But, the focus of the fleet was to try and blend the firepower of some bombers with the support of IF!. The Gunner Team and QBTs on the AF really maximize what you can get out of IF! in this case. The broadside nature of the AF also opens up different movement and formation choices.

If I swapped in Yavaris I would probably want some better squads to really maximize that ship as well.

Not saying it wouldn't be good, it just didn't fit what we wanted to accomplish

Sounds like a good battle! I really like the idea of this fleet, can't wait to try it out by myself.

I used the corrected version from steel strategies because I didn't have enough Y wings either and it worked great. The combination of Toryn Farr and Intensify Firepower means really consistent firepower you despite mostly red and blue dice. An additional benefit to Toryn Farr is what would normally be fairly weak dogfighters are able to hold their own in the squadron game. I swapped out gunnery team for flight control because it was against two ship and didn't really see the need and they then did especially well.

Awesome. Glad to see it working for you. I think the 2 A, 4 Y version is the right way to go.

I refined my version, I have dropped quad-battrey as I just never get any use out of it and gunnery teams to flight controllers. Admonition survives just fine with no lando, have a hard time dropping derlin as he saves me 4-5 damage almost every game. Have a hard time dropping boosted comms as I feel it really helps the AF survive. Really torn on the fighters though more Y-wings means better bombing, but the counter and 4 dice from the A-Wings with Toryn Far and flight controllers you can really trade up in the squadron game.

Assault Frigate Mk2 B (72)
• Garm Bel Iblis (25)
• Ahsoka Tano (2)
• Flight Controllers (6)
• Boosted Comms (4)
= 109 Points

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
• Admonition (8)
= 80 Points

Nebulon-B Support Refit (51)
• Major Derlin (7)
• Dual Turbolaser Turrets (5)
• Salvation (7)
= 70 Points

Pelta Command Ship (60)
• Toryn Farr (7)
• Intensify Firepower! (6)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
= 76 Points

Squadrons:
• 3 x A-wing Squadron (33)
• Green Squadron (12)
• 2 x Y-wing Squadron (20)
= 65 Points

Here is the other version if I can bring myself to drop Derlin.

Assault Frigate Mk2 B (72)
• Garm Bel Iblis (25)
• Ahsoka Tano (2)
• Flight Controllers (6)
• Boosted Comms (4)
• Quad Battery Turrets (5)
= 114 Points

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
• Skilled First Officer (1)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Assault Proton Torpedoes (5)
• Admonition (8)
= 81 Points

Nebulon-B Support Refit (51)
• Dual Turbolaser Turrets (5)
• Salvation (7)
= 63 Points

Pelta Command Ship (60)
• Toryn Farr (7)
• Intensify Firepower! (6)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
= 76 Points

Squadrons:
• 2 x A-wing Squadron (22)
• Green Squadron (12)
• 2 x Y-wing Squadron (20)

Agreed, besides being the more sportsman thing to do since new players commonly never had access to Squadron I packs the A-Wings add quite a lot of firepower and you still have get the black dice anti-armament which even without bomber is pretty good.

I worked out another version of the same concept let me know what you think:

Name: Untitled Fleet
Faction: Rebel
Commander: Garm Bel Iblis

Assault: Precision Strike
Defense: Hyperspace Assault
Navigation: Dangerous Territory

MC80 Battle Cruiser (103)
• Garm Bel Iblis (25)
• Strategic Adviser (4)
• Engine Techs (8)
• Spinal Armament (9)
• XI7 Turbolasers (6)
= 155 Points

Pelta Command Ship (60)
• Ahsoka Tano (2)
• Intensify Firepower! (6)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
• Phoenix Home (3)
= 74 Points

CR90 Corvette B (39)
• Toryn Farr (7)
• Heavy Ion Emplacements (9)
• Jaina's Light (2)
= 57 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Bomber Command Center (8)
• Expanded Hangar Bay (5)
• Bright Hope (2)
= 33 Points

Squadrons:
• Green Squadron (12)
• Gold Squadron (12)
• Norra Wexley (17)
• A-wing Squadron (11)
• 2 x Y-wing Squadron (20)
= 72 Points

Total Points: 391

I think the Lib can work well. But you do have a couple of things working at cross-purposes. XI7s and HIEs don't make a ton of sense. Between the HIEs and the squads, you should be able to peel shields off pretty easily. Not sure you'll get the mileage out of XI7s. Also, Toryn doesn't work for the ship she is on. You want those blue re-rolls to trigger HIE, move her to Bright Hope or Phoenix Home.
