That's exactly what that sounds like. Without going all "conspiracy theorist" it sounds like the decision to include one if not both of these characters came from "on high," and the design team may or may not be 100% happy about that. The cynic in me wants to say that Sabine was mandated since she's Disney's Golden Girl, but it easily could have been Bossk because he's "that lizard dude from the OT, so fans will love him!"

It's also possible that confirm/deny connectivity with the rest of the content may be revealing more than he's allowed to. Without more complete information, it's hard to draw conclusions, especially when the devs are working with an IP their company doesn't own.

They have NDAs. If they weren't given specific permission to spoil something, they don't know if they will get in trouble. It's safer not to get anywhere close to that line. Considering how tight lipped Ive seen a lot of FFG staffers be, they've probably seen someone get fired over it is my guess.

Well, of the original trilogy era. Disney would prefer Rey but can’t get her into the game yet.

That said, I don’t think Disney is **that** controlling on what releases come when. I’m guessing Sabine was chosen as the only real option that could be a direct Rebel counterpart to Boba, just like how Bossk looks very counter Chewie.

From what we've heard from X-wing designers in interviews a lot of the actual release schedule is mandated from FFG/Asmodee corporate, but not directly through Disney/Lucasfilm

I'm happy about Sabine, I think its a good design decision because it gives Rebels something completely new in their tool box. Plus I happen to like her character as an avid Rebels fan.

I'm sure we will eventually see more OT content like Riekken and Lando but we've already gotten several 'officer' type commanders to choose from, its good to mix up the style of commanders/operatives to facilitate a wider variety of list building styles

As evidenced by how the SWL30 Downed AT-ST was announced (and is presumably set to release) after boxes SWL37 and 38, the order the developers think up and test products is not necessarily how the company decides to announce and release them in. Since we know as a whole FFG actually plays pretty lose with when their product is dropping it's probably not their policy to even suggest what comes out in what order and discuss the mechanics of that. Purely business decisions generally don't look pretty to the individual consumer (since they're organized at a very macro level). I'll note I don't think I hear Luke mention like sales or marketing when talking about "the team", it may be that they bundle up the releases (rules, graphics, sculpts) and pass them up the chain and don't get to decide what comes out when other than "hey we know we need more of this Rank in the chart so we made another Heavy to go out", and obviously can't talk any further about how people not them are deciding things. The unit Luke alluded to probably won't be released for like 6 months but it's in some form of playable state right now.

Short version, it's probably just the developers aren't paid to represent FFG's marketing and releasing decisions, so they don't say. Given the character focus, they're probably working on all the major Rebels characters in some form - somebody, somewhere, decides we're gonna drop some new Operatives, Sabine is interesting counterpoint to boba and she'll show off how they're improving the sculpts and is also super marketable - she's the one that gets bundled up and shipped out for printing.

The Fifth Trooper/Notorious Scoundrels interview was solid. The sound quirk was a little annoying, but it would have been more annoying if they hadn't been able to have Luke Eddy on the podcast. It happens and I hope people support them so that in the future, they can go to more of the major events and have better travel equipment. Jay and co have done a wonderful job with what they're trying to do and there's a lot of space in the community for all the podcasts out there currently. I love that Luke Eddy teased a little bit, with the troopers he was using in play testing - it's a small thing, admittedly, but it's something to get excited about that didn't go through the machinations of FFG PR. NDAs be damned!

I hope on the next Notorious Scoundrels we get some insight of Kyle's experiences judging with Luke.

Luke wasn't actually there to judge; just to mingle, observe, and let us rub his elbows.

The judging was great, though. No sportsmanship or conduct issues, just rules questions. And FFG pushed out a bunch of stuff on the forums covering grey areas right before the tourney, so that helped a lot.

Ah, I guess I misunderstood. Still, I'm excited to hear more about the experience. Gotta find time to finish listening to the episode you dropped last night. Thanks for the hard work.
