There are crit tokens?
I use them.
I use crit tokens. I'd prefer it if they were compulsory so it's clear to both players which ships have an effect that matters.
'Oh, yeah, my ship has red hard turns, so I had to bank' Cheers, if I'd realised that I might have dialed a different move in!
I started using them after forgetting crits one time too many

Same. Plus I just bought some nice 3rd party tokens (including crits) so I'll definitely use those.
I rarely use them, preferring to keep the actual crit CARD by the ship in play... BUT since often there's a lot of ships on the field of battle, perhaps i should start.
Not only do I use them, I put them on the opponent's ships as well if they don't have their own. I'm a nice guy like that.
It's the same deal as with blue locks. Do you need to use them? No. Will being lazy cost you a game at some point? Yes.
Edited by ElavionI force them onmy opponents, as I know them forgetting their crits will cost me the game.
I wish they provided numbered crit tokens and have the crit effects numbered.* So each ship has a number that matches the effect.
Edited by kempokidI remembered to use them in a tourney this weekend! Hooray me!
Everyone should, especially in 2nd Ed. where crits are much more prevalent. Too many times, I've seen people cheat/forget that there are active critical effects on their ships and yet move them as if they were 100% fine.
Edited by jpltanisI always have one. Not every crit needs it but it reminds me of the important ones.

Technically, they are compulsory...I think. The rulebook says to use them. The Rules Reference, however, never even mentions them. So it all comes down do whether "the rules" means "RR only" or "rulebook + RR, with RR taking priority when they conflict".
Oh, and I absolutely use them. I forgot crits too many times without them.

Blue locks? So you're playing 1.0?
But seriously, what are crit tokens?
Edited by JJ48I always use them.
I should use them but I forget to use them so then I forget my crits...i'm a very forgetful person
I use them. It also encourages your opponent to use them when they see you use them.
Always. Sometimes they even remind me of the crit effects!
I generally insist on them. I've lost ships before because people have forgotten (legitimately or not) Weapons Failure.
I've also forgotten crits and it feels bad realizing after a few rounds.

Yep. The 2.0 crits are more important to track, and have lots of chain effects now.
I always do. In fact I started using tokens from both editions. First edition tokens for crits that can be repaired and 2e for the permanent ones.
With a swarm on the board, I really need critical markers to remind me of stuff.
I'll place a token for any face up damage that isn't a Direct Hit. Best way to remember. I only place one token per ship, regardless of how many crits it has assigned to it, it's just a reminder to check my cards.
Talk to your opponents too, "What's the crit on this ship?" "Weapons Failure." So now I know I've got one less red die coming at me and can plan accordingly. It's on you to talk to your opponent, you can't get salty for not knowing what they have going on and failing to maximise any potential you might have! It's also a solid reminder for yourself to repair the damage if you get a chance.
