Han solo gunner clarification

By Dooder77, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I need some clarification here.. I have someone that is telling me they put han gunner on norra wexley.. with that han gunner makes norra initiative 7 to use han gunner than after that attack she goes back to her initiative 5 and gets to fire her normal initiative 5 attack when her initiative 5 activates.

Now my understanding han gunner does not make you initiative 7 the pilot itself or another pilot or upgrade card would have to make you a 7 for that han's 7 to work.

Please let me know if I'm wrong

Han Gunner (Rebel) lets you preform a bonus turret attack at initiative 7, regardless of the initiative of the pilot he is equipped to (any extra attack is a bonus attack, even though it's not mentioned on this card). Note this doesn't actually change the initiative of the pilot, it just lets them attack early.

At the pilot's normal initiative he/she would engage again, with the restriction that they can't fire from the same turret arc (they can attack from a printed arc that happens to be pointing the same direction as the turret arc).

Han gunner also has this ruling in the sticky thread at the top of this forum:

Quote

Q: If a ship with Han Solo [Rebel, Gunner] is made to engage at initiative 7 (through Roark Garnet, Heightened Reflexes [Force Power], etc.), must it perform Han Solo's bonus attack first?

A: Yes. Han Solo [Rebel, Gunner]'s effect occurs at initiative 7 before any ship at that initiative engages (including the one to which Han Solo is equipped), so Han Solo's bonus attack is always performed first. This means that it cannot perform Han Solo's bonus attack and then perform a subsequent attack from the same turret arc.
