So where are B-wings configurations at?

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

And I think I see why Hera is not in an X-Wing in game. Her pilot ability at I5 with Chopper and Elusive. Might not have the action economy + self damage concerns of Jek, but **** if that wouldn't be a pain to put down.

It would make her a rather priority target if she kept the same ability since she'd be real good late game. Though since she was Phoenix Leader at that battle I could see her getting an new title and ability.

I do, since it's what they said would happen.

I guess I missed that. Link?

I have vague recollections of talk about card only packs, in the event of new content that wasn't in the Conversion Kits.

B-Wing doesn't need s-foil mechanics.

In fact, the fewer ships that get them the better, IMO. Limiting it to just the X-Wings is smart, it gives them more of a solid identity. It's a tenuous mechanic already, in terms of lore. I know a few games made X-Wings faster with s-foils closed, but I always think it's worth remembering that the in ANH, Garven Dreis orders the X-Wings to accelerate to attack speed when they open the s-foils. There's also the fact that the trench run would have been the perfect time to close s-foils for extra speed, especially given that they knew they wouldn't be shooting guns, and yet they don't do it. There is no basis in the films whatsoever for s-foils drastically affecting performance either way.

I'm cool with it as a mechanic on the X-Wings in 2e because I think it creates some well balanced decision making for the ship, and it's made X-Wings really fun to fly. But there is absolutely no reason to overdo it.

All that said, I would have liked to see B-Wing/E2 return as a configuration card. Either with an associated point cost or a reduction in some stat or slot. I think the configuration slot is a brilliant idea for tweaking ships to player preference, and personally I would have liked to see lots more ships get configurations. I think the Gunboat does it especially well, with one configuration being the classic Assault Gunboat and the other essentially being the Missile Boat. It's a brilliant way to combine two ships from the same source that both saw little use outside of the X-wing games.

The Kihraxz should absolutely have been given config cards instead of the three mod slots, IMO. They could have made it a highly modular ship by having config variants optimised for speed, firepower or durability. As it has, the Kihraxz is hampered by the fact that any of its modifications can potentially be used by all other small base ships, and so need to balanced as such.

You are absolutely correct. In Rogue Squadron II, I'd always fly the Trench Run S-Foils closed. That said, closing your S-Foils does allow your thrusters and weapons a different angle.

Which is why the T-70 gains a barrel roll you can focus into. Not only that, but it loses no firepower within the bullseye. So if you're good enough you never have to open them and always have options. That, is an impact on performance.

Oop, sorry, I’m far too lazy to go digging it out. I think it was said a few times in Q&A sessions which were available on video at the time of the second edition announcement.
