1st for the First

By Glattyator, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Just got First order, been playing against and here is what I took from my games

“Quickdraw” — TIE/SF Fighter 45

Elusive 3
Pattern Analyzer 5
Special Forces Gunner 10
Fire-Control System 2
Afterburners 6
Ship Total: 71
Half Points: 36 Threshold: 3
“Blackout” — TIE/vn Silencer 64
Lone Wolf 5
Advanced Optics 4
Ship Total: 73
Half Points: 37 Threshold: 3
“Midnight” — TIE/FO Fighter 44
Elusive 3
Advanced Optics 4
Ship Total: 51

Half Points: 26 Threshold: 2

Total 195, not crazy about needing a bid, if there are additions or mods that would increase efficiency the help would be appreciated!

Nothing obvious leaps out at me.

I mean, I'm enamored with Fanatical on FOs and VNs (less so on SFs). With a lot more hull than shields, particularly with Optics, there's just a natural synergy. Lone Wolf is probably fine in a 3 ship list, depending on how you like to fly stuff. Elusive makes a lot of sense on Midnight, with a reroll helping to cover his dice on turns you Lock rather than Focus with him.

Hrm. In that case, maybe Advanced Optics doesn't fit too well on Midnight. He's going to want to Lock a bunch, or pull red moves. Does he take a focus every turn? Maybe Pattern Analyzer would be better here, too.

With Quickdraw, I've been really fascinated by Advanced Sensors (and maybe also Trick Shot?), but with the price increases, and the reduction on Afterburners, FCS/Afterburners might make more sense. The Elusive/Pattern Analyzer package seems cute. Helping QD lose shields slower is always good, and being able to S-Loop with a Focus and Elusve reroll sounds great. I think I'd hesitate to run QD without either AdvS or AftB: they're an Init 6 on 2 green dice whose shield are precious, so having some tool to help them stay out of arc seems wise.

So while I might personally build the same ships a bit different, I don't really have any problems with it. Well, maybe Elusive/Advanced Optics. I just don't know if the action economy is there for Optics, and while decent, there might be a better fit.

If you run elusive, run pattern analyzer. Just makes sense to always have a reroll and focus.

I prefer PA on blackout, but thats personal taste, and I fly him with Elusive and PA anyways. LW is good on him in this list cause Midnight or Quickdraw will be enemies no.1 target, then its a two ship list and LW will trigger alot.

So make it and Elusive Pattern Analyzer list? not opposed to it just unfamiliar. Usually I fly 3 ship squads that are knife fighty like this, however with that adjustment it keeps the list at the same price so why not fly it? :D

I strongly feel that Trick Shot is WAY better on Blackout than anything else. An extra die is statistically better than a reroll.

And then yeah, PA on Midnight if you're going with Elusive. Though I like Fanatical/Optics

My only problem with Trick Shot on Blackout is that I--me personally--suck at getting obstructed shots with a front-arc ship when I don't have tools to move out from behind rocks before moving. If I wasn't terrible with it, I'd think it was better.

I feel like Trick Shot also has a lot of potential on Quickdraw, if you can pull it off. 4-dice double-taps are pretty good.

Blackouts ability is just extra icing on cake what matters is he is I5 and cheaper then kylo.

Having TS on BO changes your opponents manoeuvres too as they actively try to stop or move out from a 4die attack with -1 green.
