Wedge & Corran - AD Carry with support 4 ship list (couldn't find a longer name)

By Jedu, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Corran goes cheaper and I'm trying to create a competitive list including both Wedge and Corran.
These guys are able to unleash a massive punishment, if flown right. But also, both of them are not as survivable, as people using them would like, I suppose.

That is why they need a solid and cheap support. Support? First thing that comes to mind - AP-5. Coordinate to feed focus or to perform pre-move repositions. It's always useful and I read somewhere, that AP-5 was the rebel ship that was used in the largest number of successful lists (or something like that). He can take Leia onboard, to give Corran white turnovers and hard 1 turns, which can come in handy in a lot of situations.
However, AP-5 is kinda slow. And supports only 1 ship, let it be Wedge. Next support should be faster.
So, Jake Farrel. Kept behind Corran in order to boost to Corran's position from previous round, in order to give Corran focus. This way Corran might take evade for more durability. Which is needed, as you have only 2 ships that are able to deal real damage. The whole list:

Corran Horn — E-Wing 66
Predator 2
R2 Astromech 4
Afterburners 6
Ship Total: 78
Half Points: 39 Threshold: 3
AP-5 — Sheathipede-class Shuttle 32
Leia Organa 2
Ship Total: 34
Half Points: 17 Threshold: 3
Wedge Antilles — T-65 X-Wing 52
Servomotor S-foils 0
Ship Total: 52
Half Points: 26 Threshold: 3
Jake Farrell — RZ-1 A-Wing 36
Ship Total: 36
Half Points: 18 Threshold: 2

I don't know which would be better on Corran - predator or maybe FCS? Afterburners on Wedge or on Corran? I think that Corran needs them more in order to hit and run more efficiently and maybe to line up bullseye easier.

Seems like it'd be a fun list to try out. Two decent hitters, two support ships.

Support-Jake seems like a wise idea. He doesn't throw a lot of dice, but seems like he could still be quite a pest by getting to a flank in the midgame. That's something most support ships can't do.

I think Predator seems good on Corran when he doesn't have FCS (just a shame he can't also afford Advanced Sensors). I think I'd probably try to roll like that. I think the ideal Corran run probably shoots range 3 with Focus/Lock, then closes and uses Ability at Range 1, and that probably works a bit better with Predator than FCS.

Love R2 on E-Wings.

I can maybe see Afterburners on Wedge. There are times it'd be nice to boost him without closing S-Foils and going down in attack dice. But it'd also be good on Corran, and there's something really nice about a cheap Wedge. He dies easy, any way he's built, but also does decent damage, any way he's built. So cheap seems best.

I would definitely switch predator for FCS on Corran. FCS getting a point drop makes it much better than Predator. And in this squad in particular, its pretty easy to get Corran the actions so he can safely move TL when he needs to.

As for afterburners, that's a tough call. Ideally you would want it on both of them, really, but since you haven't got the points for that, I'd say try it out both ways and see what you end up liking better.

I played against almost this exact list, except my opponent was flying Arvel w Intimidation for the extra hurt.

It's definitely got some teeth! And multiple threats. He split Wedge and Corran, so unless I split my forces I was forced to give him a flank.

On the other hand, if there's lots of action economy in the list, it should be easy enough for Corran to get a new lock after spending one. I dunno. I keep going back and forth on this.

Predator can provide rerolls if you're forced to spend a lock, or switch targets. but can't spare an action. FCS has a wider arc, however, and that's a pretty big benefit.

In another list, where there are points to fill both slots, I think there's a lot of great options. FCS with Crack Shot or Marksmanship, to maximize the effectiveness of bullseye turns. Predator and Advanced Sensors is expensive, but it gives Corran a lot of position options, or lets him get a focus before a red or bump move. Heck, given his pilot ability, using Advanced Sensors to engineer a bump on a turn when you'll be disarmed seems like that'd be potent.

But when there's only space for one, and to fill one slot... I dunno. Play both and see how they feel to you.

This isn't critique, it's more like me running through options for my own use, as much as anything.

Gave ships more attack individually,

Less points on Horn to spread the love

After flying E wings a couple times, I think if you have a support ship (eliminating early game need for Advanced sensors) R4 Astro and FCS is the way to go for cheap. Your ship becomes independent, gets white one turns and the two bank/turn green, which gives it an absolutely ludicrous dial. This may not be the best outfit for Corran in particular (I've only flown a Rouge with FCS R4 and Marksmanship and he hits like a truck for PS4), so I might be wrong for him there but, just throwing the idea out there. Pretty solid for minimum four points, and keeps them relatively lean for other options (like Ap5 + Leia for 34. Genius, and Leia works whenever. An E wing with Focus + coordinate evade + lock + white K turn is a scary E wing.)
