Siege of Winterfell

By Stag Lord, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Oh my God - check out longclaw's CotW.

Qhorin is great (nice job by the way Jonathan) but the Siege of Winterfell puts Stark rush right back on the map. Very evocative of the War of the Five Kings agenda. - one of the most deck defining agendas ever printed. If Stark is getting tech to pull off extra miliatyr challenges......

The Wolf is back.

Rofl, very evocative? Isn't it the same ability text with "House Stark Only" added?

Granted, it really does look like this is going to be a huge boon to Stark. When the heck is this box going to hit anyway?

Spring '10 is still the only official release time. I am hoping for an early May release...but I am thinking it will be more like late May to early June.

I hate(d) this agenda, in a respectful sort of way.... It causes me to freak out too much.

Do I smell a house specific agenda cycle coming our way?

And the AGoT Tournament Rules say Summer '10, so I agree it will probably be late May/June at the earliest.

it a great card but think your running stark with muiply 2 claim plots you cna not win a plower at all so the thing i am wonder if a person is running this agenda would they even do power as the attacker would be kind of differnt

Winning a power challenge moves power from one House card to another. Despite the challenge result being called "claim," you do not "claim power" for your House when you win a power challenge. So no, this Agenda does not shut down the entire Power challenge for a player.

This Agenda only stops you from taking power out of the general power pool and putting it on your House card. You can still move power to your House card from other cards that are already in play. Another way to look at it is that if the total number of power on the board would change by you putting those power tokens on your House card, the Agenda stops you from doing it any time other than during a Military challenge.

So glad to see these cards back. Stark is back to being competetive. Still not sure if they will crack the top 3 houses in Joust with the release of these cards, but at least they will be competetive. I also really hope that original Game of Thrones and Clash of Kings will be reprinted.

I second that wholeheartedly. The original Game of Thrones is one of my favorite plots.

The Wolf is back.

Den of the Wolf is now looking not bad with the imminent(?) release of Storm of Swords (plot) and The Siege of Winterfell (agenda).
There are risks when repeating a challenge phase, but with a well-timed/controlled play using the above two cards, Starks can possibly rake in 8 power from 4 separate MILITARY victories (not counting any unopposed/renown/other effects) before the end of a single round.

Ah memories. I miss the Wot5K agenda, it was the basis of my first deck. Definitely makes you go full tilt on the offensive. I love it.

I like the idea behind this agenda, seems very cool and it really brings some cards that were overlooked before (as far as i know) into focus (battle of ruby ford, epic battles, mummer's ford).

However, when I took a closer look at the agenda, I did get a bit worried. The big thing is that you can win two power even if you win a military on defense - that's pretty powerful. Also, the benefits of running the agenda far outweigh the detriments - I don't see any sensible reason why I would ever not run this agenda in a Stark deck - unless I really want some other agenda (like Kings of Winter) more. There's just no reason as far as I can see to play with no agenda for Stark.

I guess we'll see how well it performs and draw more conclusions from there. One thing's certain, with this agenda, Stark can definitely surpass Baratheon in the power gobbling department (for now anyway demonio.gif ).

As nice on paper as the agenda seems, losing unopposed for power and then winning power from dominance makes the agenda extremely balanced. The good and bad thing about the agenda is that it makes a deck a one-trick pony as it were. Of course, there were not as many cards that allowed you to make multiple military challenges per turn as there is now because of Den of Wolves and the Epic Battle cards.

I'm curious whether if the other RoK agendas will get reprinted/re-done. The Small Council agenda might not be as fun, but I miss Heir to the Iron Throne as an agenda for Martell.

It seemed it was only a few months back that I found myself wishing Starks had draw and power gathering from MIL challenges. There was also want for more murder techs, but that would be just gravy.

Day by day, LoW is shaping up to be my wildest Stark dream....a dream where direwolves prowled with heads held up high and ran at the head of the pack.

I'm actually hoping we get an in-house agenda for each house now. I think that would be rather cool. Perhaps Lanni will be The Small Council, but I have little idea on what the rest could be.

As for the set, I received an email that said it should be out in the first half of May.

Well that changes things. Maybe I will be playing Stark at Regionals.

From the look of the earlier than anticipated release of Assault on Ulthuan, the Deluxe Expansion of Warhammer: Invasion LCG, which broke out of the last year's "established" production pattern for Deluxe Expansions, I was guessing/hoping we would be seeing Lords of Winter sooner rather than later.

The fanfares heralding its arrival in the form of 3 guest articles also help tip me off into thinking the sooner instance may actually happen.

I hope the Deluxe Expansions for each Houses follow a more curt 3-4 month release schedule, else it would take years before each of the Great Houses can have their own Deluxe Expansion. Please let the resin House cards follow suit as well!

Was it announced that there would be a Deluxe Expansion for each House, or is that an assumption since there was no "reason" for the Stark one, the way there was for GJ and Martell (to reintroduce the Houses to the game)?

It is an assumption.

But I think it's a reasonable one. happy.gif

Agreed. The epxansion sets are cool, and if they sell well I can't imagine a reason we won't see more. The remaining three houes are most likely, but we may even see some surprises like Nightwatch or Kingsguard or other theme.

I believe you mean remaining 5, since Greyjoy and Martell will be needing one of their own Deluxe Expansion to keep current with the rest of the pack.

Don't feed them to the Starks, err...I mean wolves! demonio.gif

They just got freaking exapnsions that jacked them in power so they could catch up to teh Core set houses - and quickly passed them all but Lannister. They can wait around a year before they get the little starters - and if they never got them, I wouldn't shed any tears.

This agenda looks key to building a competitive Stark deck. It definitely plays to the advantages of the House.

Just a clarification - with the agenda, will one be able to claim power for unopposed military challenges? I wasn't sure what to make of the phrase "during military challenges". Or will you simply be unable to claim power for all challenges.

you can take unopposed only in military challenges. You don't take others 2 unopposed and dominance.

This conversation sounds intense. But what is everyone talking about? Where are you seeing these cards?
