Nien with black one tittle and static discharge

By rafaeldelinares, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi, we have a question about Nien nunb pilot, equipped with Static discharge vanes and the black one title
Nien performs slam action and stays within range 1 of an enemy ship. He chooses to gain an ion token in order to remove the disabled weapon token, as it is equipped with static discharge vanes I decide before receiving the ion token to the enemy ship.
The question is:
Would Nien discard the disabled weapon card? Or as in the static discharge vanes card states : "Before you would gain 1 ion..." when not receiving the ion, could not the weapon chip be disabled?

we have discussed the issue but we can not find the correct solution on the disabled weapon card,
thanks for the attention

The answer can be found under Replacement Effects on page 2 of the Rules Reference:

When a replacement effect resolves, the replaced effect is treated as having not occurred.

If Nien uses Static Discharge Vanes, he is considered to have not received the ion token. Since he never received the ion token, he hasn't resolved Black One and can't remove the weapons disabled token.

as of right now @DR4CO is correct. since replacement effects makes the original effect not count as having occured, the feedback array - static discharge vanes, black one - static discharge vanes and overseer yushun - foreman proach combos do not work according to RAW.

I wouldn't hold your breath for it to change, though. Proach/Yushun feels like an oversight/mistake in their design, but the overall rule likely exists specifically to stop "have your cake and eat it, too" setups like this one.
