I bought a load of 5mm and 3mm foam board, and a cheap toolbox to construct this storage option for Xwing 2.0.
For now, all ships, cards, bases, and tokens fit but i will need a bigger box soon.
The project was quite fun to build but more importantly...cheap to build.......I've had this strapped on to the back of a motorbike and all the minis are safe.
All options are valid, and this looks to be a nice way to do it.
I went with KR Multicase, and got all of my stuff into 2x their cardboard cases. The cases drop into a case-bag, with enough pockets for the small-parts toolbox full of the tokens, dice-bag and rulebooks. They do backpacks and alu-cases if that is more your thing.
But, they do custom foam trays for most bigger ships, and knowing which combination to buy got messed up after Rogue1 got dropped by the Imperials :(
I just use lidded storage boxes for cards. Cheap, simple.
I just use plano boxes..
