D'qar List Gunner Advice

By NeonWolf, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Got an Evacuation of D'qar event this weekend and I don't play (or own) any Resistance or First Order. Borrowing some ships from a friend and this is what I've got to play with. I'm pretty set on the 2x A-Wings and the Bomber, just not sure what secondary gunner to give the Starfortress. I've got enough points for a Veteran Turret Gunner, and Agile Gunner, or even Paige Tico but I've never flown this ship. Advice would be appreciated.

RZ-2 A-wing - •Tallissan Lintra - 53
•Tallissan Lintra - Deadly Approach (35)
Composure (1)

RZ-2 A-wing - Green Squadron Expert - 50
Green Squadron Expert - (34)

MG-100 StarFortress - •Edon Kappehl - 89
•Edon Kappehl - Crimson Hailstorm (66)

Vet Tur Gunner for the double tap and multi arc attack option or Hotshot to pressure the target to spend their Focus tokens. Agile and Paige aren't going to add much for Edon from what I can tell.

What ships/Pilots are legal in the D'Qar format, out of curiousity? Particularly as First Order? I haven't been able to find it written down anywhere (if someone has a link, that'd be great).

Definitely Veteran Turret Gunner. And try catching enemies in the front arc for the double tap.

Its in the app but my phone is being dumb. Off the top of my head:

About half of the FO TIE pilots, all SF TIE Pilots, and Kylo in the Silencer.

I know, but my phone lacks 3G....in fact it barely manages G. It's not a smartphone so I don't have access to the app. FFG publishes points costs and quick builds as .pdfs, but whilst they've indicated hyperspace legality, if they've written down specific Yavin/D'Qar legality anywhere outside the App, I haven't been able to find it.

I'm assuming it's the 'callsign' rather than 'named' TIE/fo fighters who are legal - Rivas and TN3465 are both dead by The Last Jedi, and Malarus may or may not be but definitely isn't there.

Paige does the same job for all bombers - double tap with free Turret turn. Most of ppl are trying her on Vennie, but she's as same good on Edon. I think Edon wants Skilled Bombardier tho.

I would drop Composure in a-wings, as it doesn't work with linked actions.

....What a random list. So Omega Leader, but no other Omega Squadron Pilots? Epsilon Leader and generic Epsilon Cadets but no Epsilon Ace?

Thank you for the link, though.

Composure is there so I can, theoretically, fail a barrel roll or boost, get a focus, then shoot P-Rockets. I guess I could use Marksmanship instead but I've never flown A-Wings so something that lets me get a focus when I fly them poorly seemed like a good idea.

If this is only for being safe then fair enough. I tought you've made common mistake thinking you can do TL action into linked failed boost to get double mods.

If you’re in a position to fire the Prockets, why would you ever not just focus? I don’t see what Composure adds here.

Because, like I said, I've never flown the A-Wings before so expect to make a few mistakes. It was cheap and seemed like a safety net.

My other 1-point choices are Crack Shot and Marksmanship. I could drop them altogether and have a 3-point bid but this is an event for fun, not competition, and I am borrowing these ships since I only own Scum (currently).

I have access to 2x A-Wings and 1x Starfortress for this event, so this is the list I was going with.

I could always drop the upgrades and just take a huge bid, but that's not really my style.

No, I’m not a fan of bidding. The safety net idea’s not a bad one, but I think Oldpara’s suggestions are sensible if you can do without it.
