Nothing, the faction is complete

lol Master Shake.

I assume we mean next Rebels content.

Inquisitor? Thrawn? Kanan? Ezra? I suspect to see them all one day. I guess we will see a bounty hunter each time the Rebels get a Rebels or Rogue one character. with just a few dabbles of Rebels content for the imperials.

I like the idea of more Light Sabre wielding commander or operative units - Kanan, Ezra and Inquisitors - but I'd much rather see the likes of Ben Kenobi first.

I think Sabine is the start of the Rebels crew, pretty sure Ezra or Kanan will be next. In fact if they don't continue to release the Phoenix group I will be pretty sad, been dying to be able to use them for Legion.

For Empire? I dunno, since they announced Bossk they might continue to do bounty hunters before they touch Rebel cast. Though its not like the Empire is lacking in that department between Thrawn, Inquisitors, Pryce, and Kallus who could be a Rebel as well.

Also from Sabine's 3 pip card, gimme a Mandolorian special forces unit for Rebels please.

Eh, I mean we going to have 3 special forces at that point. I'd be surprised if they went up to 4 special forces before buffing some of the other slots.

maybe think of a special forces unit containing 1-4 minis. in this pack will be Hera, Kanan, Ezra, Zeb and C1-10P the core unit is 3 named characters but with quite different weapons to add to the pool but max range 2: Hera, Zeb and Chopper with a heavy unit upgrade beeing either kanan who turns this unit more of into a melee unit and ezra doing more of a ranged unit increasing the whole units range to 3 maybe

To be fair we were saying that before we knew that pathfinders and deathtroopers were dropping. I was honestly hoping for a third corp to drop before or at the same time as another operative

I'd like to see another CORPS as well. Honestly I hope they fit a Mercenary faction in and give us tokens to use the operatives in that capacity. They do need more commanders though, which Hera and Kanan would fit the bill. Ezra and Zeb and Chopper would be better operatives, or a team of operatives (unique Special forces unit)

Yoda?

It is starting to look like the Rebel faction will definitely be more character driven than the Empire faction, which is thematic and true to the universe, I feel.

By the end of May the Rebels will have 2 character units (Jyn & Sabine) that can either forward deploy or quickly reach the center of the board, as well as 2 special forces units that can do the same (Commandos & Pathfinders). They will also have a single-small-base transport in the X-34 speeder, as well as all the things we've grown accustomed to with Chewie, Han, Leia, & Luke.

I'm wondering if we will see a smaller focus on troopers with the Rebels and a larger focus on supporting characters that can accomplish the objectives, especially the ones that require units to reach the center or the opposite side of the board. Will Minefields become a popular Condition for Empire players to limit/punish Infiltrating Rebel units?

Just some random thoughts.

This is the first release for the Rebel faction I've instantly given a hard 'no' to buying. I don't like the character or show she's from in the least, but I do very much like the fact that that the new releases having multi-pose options.

There's still some solid OT choices that they haven't tapped yet but are in Imperial Assault: R2-D2, C-3P0, Old Ben, OT Lando. Then there's all the characters from Rebels now that they've opened the door with Sabine, so you'll have Hera, Kanann, Ezra, Zeb, Chopper. With Jyn (and Krennic) out, there's also everyone else from Rogue One. That's just the unique Operative type characters (and a few of them could be Commanders). Echo Base still doesn't have their Corp units yet which they could do easily. There's also the Tauntaun suggested in the artwork that was revealed so that's an option too. And we haven't even scratched the surface of any of the new books or comics that are all canon as well now.

It’s pretty bizarre that Lando isn’t available yet. He’s easily the biggest name not in the game.

It even sounds like something Lando would say about it.

Lando also hasn’t been seen in any real ground fights, a small escape from Bespin is about it.

They may be struggling with a thematic way to bring him in.

That’s probably a good thing I suppose (having a hard no). Helps keep budget focused. I don’t play Rebels, but if I did the Wookiee SF would be my version thereof. So far, the empire hasn’t given me any hard no just a “not in a rush” (Krennic - I’m sure I’ll like him more later but so far just not sure why I’d take him over Veers).

I don’t necessarily know how the meta will evolve to meet the challenge, but I certainly see the trend towards character heavy lists. And I’m alright with it - it feels Star Wars that way. I’m not sure how I personally would play a “2 commanders and an operative” or other large scale character driven lists - I feel pretty bad anytime I try it out in tabletop admiral and only have 3-4 corps .... in a rebel list. I’m not sure “all the characters” is terribly competitive when activation count appears to be king. But from a fun perspective it sounds awesome!

However, it certainly seems like the rebel direction is focus on forces that can meet an objective - the vehicles aren’t great choices (atrt is a solid one, but is getting pushed out if you take so many characters, and the x34 seems built to move your characters around).

I will probably just play one commander or one commander + operative lists as an imperial player. Try to figure out combinations I like and can field effectively against both other Imp lists and the new rebel strategies.

I agree. I play the game on Tabletop Simulator (and mostly as Imperials), but I get the models to paint. Funnily enough, I decided against getting any Wookies eventually, though I originally planned to.

I'm glad that fans of the show (as godawful as I thought it was) will have some characters to buy from it, but would have much rather have seen C-3PO and/or R2D2 as operatives first.

Battlefront 2's story is cannon so he has seen ground combat on Sullust at least.

what would R2 and 3PO do in Legion?, you can't pass focus or hack teminals in LEgion

Complain and make other irritating noises.

But seriously, they could mess around with the deployment of objectives, misdirect enemy units, repair things, etc.

Exactly, 2 more GCW battles than we’ve seen non-Chewbacca Wookiees in.

Could be part of a mission pack (escort them halfway) or from point a to b; giving a push scenario.

Even though I'd like to see Lando at some point, still the biggest character missing for me is Obi-One, or Yoda. They could come to counter Palp who has no matching counterpart

i'm sure FFG is keeping them both for TCW

The less the better. No one should compare to the emperor and keeping the commanders of the factions different enough so that the factions feel and play differently

While it would be cool to see Yoda and Ben for Rebels, I doubt we will see them. Ben only helped Luke from Tatooine to the Death Star and from there only talked and guided Luke. Yoda even less, only taught Luke, and did nothing else for the Rebellion. Yoda anyway at the point of the GCW was not in combat shape, was on his last legs anyway, if Yoda was able to put up bit of a fight to Palp in RotS, then by ESP, he would be killed pretty fast.

Besides with Republic confirmed they will likely be in that faction, maybe if the Rebellion is starving on units it might happen but right now for Jedi we still have Ezra, Kanan, and adult Ahsoka, who actually fights for the Rebellion, to go through. Heck, Sabine is kinda like a Jedi with her Darksaber.

For now Rebels have Lando, the rest of the spectres, and the rest of Rogue one group to go through.
