Inqi Aces

By Ryuneke, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Just got another game in and i still love this list. Its pretty much my extended list. Any time I play extended this is going on the table.

Vader with Afterburners

Soontir with Predator

Kagi with Inqy,Title,Jamming Beam, Freelance Slicers.

Total 194

After the Vader Vynder system open win, I added Freelance Slicers to the list to counter locked ships even more. Kagi gets locked by Vynder, then vynder attacks and the lock gets stripped. Or any vader is pretty screwed. Helps keep Kagi alive when you reinforce, and then a ship like anakin cant get rerolls cuz his lock gets jammed, or his focus gets jammed and he is "forced" to use force.

I played vs a Vader,Whisper,Ion Gunboat. Kagi worked like a charm. I just went hard for whisper, knowing his vader is non threatening to my aces until Kagi is dead. Inqy got vader a focus, broll, lock on whisper before vader kturned behind whisper range 1.

Inqy also coordinated soontir a focus and broll, then a blue move, then soontor takes an evade, and gets a focus from ability, range 1 on gunboat.

Slicers sliced Vaders lock. Kago took a gunboat lock on vader. Kagi was about to jam whispers evade so whisper couldnt juke, but I felt Kagi getting a shot on whisper was more important.

Edit: Ah yes, another cool moment was seeing opponents Vaders dial as a 3 tallon, then Inqy coordinates a boost to soontir to block Vader. Then my vader 3 talloned, and boosted range 1 of his Vader.

I will say it again. Love this list.

I like the list and want to try it, but have you found that it's a bit predictable for your opponents?

You need to be within R2 of your Inqi crew, so you know pretty well about where they're going to end up next round.

I just feel like it'd be an easy list to jam up and pop Vader or Soontir... but maybe I'm wrong?

Its difficult to jam up the aces because of inquisitor. That is the beauty of it. You really dont know where they will end up. They have advance sensors after your dial is revealed. Even if soontir moves first and just takes a focus, then your i6 reveals dial, coordinate to Soontir a boost and roll. Its better for the opponent to not get into inquisitors range 2 bubble, but then you are giving my 3 agility aces range bonus. And if you lock for torpedoes, kagi takes the locks. The aces are safe until Kagi dies. In five games so far with the list, I have yet to lose Vader or Soontir, and in only 1 game did Vader get to half points.

In a previous match, I saw Lulo reveal her dial, focused up Soontir, lulo moves, Soontir sloops and gets range 1 on Lulo - Dead Lulo. I dialed in the sloop because most people dont expect Soontir to ever sloop or kturn in the scrum. But with inquisitor, you can see where the ship is moving, and either coordinate a roll or boost to adjust the red move so he lands in bullseye, or just focus him up. In same game, the gunboat revealed dial, Vader couldnt block the gunboat but rolled toward the gunboat to prevent a 2 sharp slam, then vader focused and locked whisper using two force points (blocking that gunboat slam meant no shots coming to vader this round who kturned ehind whisper, so free to use force aggressively).

Give the list a try. It flies way different than any Palp shuttle ace list where you have to be cautious and cagey with your aces. Swarms are the hardest matchup for the list, cuz Kagi ability does squat, and reinforce sends a hit through anyways, so you need Kagi to jam the swarm and force them to break up and get aggressive with Aces while Kagi is alive to kill a couple. If the swarm doesnt kill Kagi, you should be golden dancing around any of their block attempts.

Quad phantoms could be another rough matchup (as if it would be anything else), but I added Freelance slicers to help in those lock-less matchups to jam their evade off. Against i4 lists, you should take first player. You want Kagi moving first, so he can get to range 2 before they reveal their dial and have them worry more about where Kagi is going, cuz Kagi could care less if he bumps. This helps in those initial engagements. I did this vs Brobots, and Kagi got to range 2, brobot revealed dial, then coordinated Vader a barrel roll so he wouldnt get blocked by the brobot.

Interesting. I need to get it on the table.
