Just finished playing the circle undone (spoilers)

By CaffeineAddict, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Just finished a playthough of the scenarios in circle undone, solo, using Joe Diamond.

Very interesting scenario design in this one.

The prologue was an interesting twist on the game setup, with the specific cards in hand and play. I wonder if they'll continue that approach in subsequent cycles.

The separation of investigators in scenario 1 doesn't mean much solo, so it'll be interesting to see how that affects the game when I do a multiplayer campaign.

I'd been looking forward to trying out Joe ever since he was spoiled, and overall I found him to be a fun investigator to play - right up until he got defeated by four hunter enemies in scenario 2, and the resolution killed him. So long, Joe.

If I'm reading the resolution right, it says I pick a new investigator and carry on with the campaign - even though the only investigator was killed. That's unusual.

Looking forward to trying these again with different investigators.

Tried a second campaign with Diana and Rita. More success this time, surviving scenario 2. When playing through with Joe, scenario 2 felt like constant pressure with enemies piling up. Rita made short work of them, evading the big bad every turn, while Diana moved around in no hurry making sure I could score maximum victory points. I got on the lodges bad side by defeating Josef for the victory points, so well have to see later in the campaign if that was a mistake or not.

I'm not usually a fan of survivors, but Rita is, so far, really good. My first upgrade for her was ornate bow, though I didn't actually draw it. Diana feels like she's going to be fun, but probably needs some time to develop properly.

Overall, great start to the new cycle.
