IA Olympics

By Ajax Romano, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Been a bit bored of the meta recently, so I thought of ways of having IA competition with more diverse lists. I played around with a planetary Olympics format with 30 point max teams (beyond that would preclude some planets like Mandalore from taking part in the competition). Not sure how feasible such this idea could be or what map would best suit 30 point lists. Anyway, here's an image of what I reckon teams may look like. Any suggestions appreciated.

(spelled Mandalore wrong here, but don't want to re-up the pic as the last time I did that I exceeded my pic limit)

No Coruscant? Or Empire at all really...

could do a Sith list, or a Jedi list,

Thanks. I guess technically Vader can be part of the Tattooine team. As for Coruscant, I don’t know of any natives that appear in IA (other than HK Assassin droids).

Alternate suggestion: no change to the rules or points or command cards but flat out ban all deployment card including and after wave 8

edit: deployment cards and skirmish upgrades, so no eJet, eGamo, Hatred Vader, Rogue Solo or Avenger Chewie

This is an awesome idea. I've grown bored of the meta right now too, so I've been thinking of just making fun/thematic lists to pair against each other (stormtroopers vs rebel troopers, creatures vs droids, Rhodians and Trandos vs Wookies, etc.

I love this!

Yeah, I guess it just goes to show how homogenized the Empire is in its attempts to stamp out individualism.

A few other budding ideas to throw around-

Dathomir-

Maul (7)

Rancor x2 (20) (can you have 2?)

3 points left for upgrades

Lothal

Ezra Bridger (7)

eLoth Cats x 1 (6)

rLoth Cats x 4 (16)

1 point left over for upgrades

Ryloth

Diala (7)

Hera (4)

Oof, that's it as far as I can tell. that leaves 19 points left, so it's not a very viable list at all , but it just shows we need more Twi'leks. Same for Mon Cala, too.

This is hilarious! A map like mos eisley could be good as it's pretty balanced and hey, it's mos eisley!

@subtrendy2 Thanks for suggestions! Inserted Lothal and Dathomir below.

@NeverBetTheFett Mos Eisley Back Alleys sounds good. (Will miss it when it phases out.)

the intentions are fun but the problem is that it completely ignores the power curve difference, hence my comment regarding banning figures including and after Wave 8

For example, Tatooine's Bantha + 2 eTusken + eJawa stands no chance against Corellia's Rogue Solo, and Bespin's 2 eWing + 2 eUgnaught will be completely crushed by Kashyyyk's Avenger Chewie + Drokkatta

just my 2c

All parsecs lead to Mos Eisley.

If this were to go to tournament, then tweaks would likely need to be made to balance it. (Then again, the Olympics themselves are not well-balanced. That being said, an Australian did win gold for speed skating once. Maybe one day the Tuskens will raise their gaffi sticks in sweet, unlikely victory.)

Ooh, I like the additions of Yinchorr and Polis Massa, too.

Side note- you're totally right, but how weird is it that Luke and Leia were born on an asteroid? Like, is that basically the international waters of the GFFA?
