Freelance Slicers effect on Munitions

By SocialPhysics, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Assumptions:

  • My ship is equipped with the Freelance Slicer Crew upgrade.
  • I am declared the defender of an attack by a ship that I have a lock on.
  • The attacking ship has me locked as well and is intending to fire a munition at me (torp or missle with the lock requirement).

Question (1): If I activate my Freelance Slicer effects and spend my lock to assign a jam token to the attacking ship and role the dice to see if I also get a jam, can I remove the attacking ships target lock to resolve the effects of their newly acquired jam token? - There by striping them of the ability to fire their munitions at me this round.

(Of course they would still be able to fire with primary weapons for normal effects)

Nope. By the time it gets the jam it's already declared the weapon. You stop it being able to reroll and it could failsafe it if it wanted.

Yep, this.

Attacking:

Quote

1. Declare Target
c. Declare Defender: The attacking player chooses an enemy ship to be the defender. The defender must meet the requirements defined by the weapon.

2. Attack Dice

Freelance Slicers resolves "before attack dice are rolled", so by that point, the weapon is already passed checking for the lock.
