Tournament Rules Up

By cyberfunk, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

In my defense, I think I'm a pretty capable tactical player as the game is going on - I just had a tiny bit too slow of a deck. :( I should have just committed to playing a lame Rush deck and tweaked it appropriately. Had I done so, I'm confident (in that particular tournament) that I'd have had a good chance at making the final four. I'm realizing that it's much harder to play a card-game like this competitively when you have a 2-year old and an 8-month old (who has special needs and nursing coming in around the clock) than it is when you're a single young guy with a decent amount of free time. Sigh.

I'm going to have to start working now to be ready for GenCon, I suspect. LOL

"all the 12 out of 12 decks were all skaven based rush."

This was basically true. One of the guys I went with played orc rush that had Clan Molder Elite as the only skaven card (he got 5th), every other deck had multiple skaven.

If I hadnt invested so much driving time in the event, I would have played a dwarf deck that I think is really fun and does ok against orc rush (not nearly good enough). As it was, dark elves are really the other best choice.

Yeah, I had a pretty nifty 3/4ths Dwarf Deck & 1/4th High-Elf deck that won 3 out of 7 or 8 matches vs. Orc/Skaven but it just didn't win consistently enough to make playing it safe enough. Had I gotten even 50% results with it, I'd have brought it instead. I prefer NOT to "have" to play a particular deck to have a genuine chance at success. (Like all of us, I'm sure.)
